Started with some small tastes of 1792 Sweet Wheat, JB Red Wheat, and finishing up with some ND OGD BIB.

How would you compare those two wheaters?

I have a large ziploc bag full of spares of all types. A Blanton's bag would be much classier. Since I started this collection I've only needed one spare for a broken Stagg Jr.

I also collect plastic caps thanks to the broken OWA screw cap on my current bottle. It now sports an orange OGDBIB cap.

I screwed up and failed to keep the cork for the new OGDBIB bottles.

Having a 3 ounce pour of 60% Weller 12, 40% Old Weller Antique (it's actually 66.6%, and 33.3%, but I digress...). This should last me the evening, have a great Sunday evening everyone!

How do you make 3 ounces last all night? That is two pours for me, which usually lasts me 60 - 90 minutes to start the evening. I am spoiled working from home and not having to set an alarm or commute for work so any night can be Friday for me. :D

I will be in bottle killing mode tonight I think: OGDBIB, 114, BT114 and anything else that is half full or less will be in the cross hairs.

My EC18 arrived and I cracked it open. Light in the nose just picking up some sweetness but I'm a little stuffed up so that could just be me.

Vanilla on the tip of the tongue and oak tannins in the back. Nice spice and a long finish.

Just started this pour so a ways to go with it.

How do you make 3 ounces last all night? That is two pours for me, which usually lasts me 60 - 90 minutes to start the evening. I am spoiled working from home and not having to set an alarm or commute for work so any night can be Friday for me. :D

Well, I need to hit the ground running early Monday morning on some work projects. Working from home is awesome! I usually try to work from home once in a while, but tonight I need to keep it to one (or two) drinks. Trust me, I'd have more if I could! Cheers!

I hear you. It is just hard for me to stop at only one or two pours. I have been working from home full time for over 6 years and haven't commuted to a full time day job in over 10. I generally work 7 days a week due to the type of work I do but rarely have to work more than 6 hours a day.

On topic: I decided to start with a 1oz pour from my nearly empty pint of Blantons and have my similarly filled pint of MMCS (both will be missed, but not replaced any time soon due to their price points here) lined up next then it will be on to the other bigger bottles I mentioned previously. I am already yawning tonight after waking up early today to put in my 6 or 7 hours of standard work so it will probably be a short night for me once the bourbon kicks in.

Oh, no problem, just decant into an old style OGD bottle. I can usually find a spare empty.

As my first 3 ounce pour nears it's end, I may have to pour one more....ha. I guess I couldn't just have one pour tonight. I'll have to make this one count. I just poured 1.5 ounces of Stagg Jr. Batch 3 with a few drops of water. :cool:

My first rodeo with IW15: Poured and let it sit for a while and soon noticed that it has a great licorice-oak nose that fills up the room. First tasting reveals a nice balanced leather and spice bite with a moderately lengthy finish. Hmm, and it seems to be pretty well refined (which for this much age and money one would expect) with subtle complexities.

First pour impressions: This whiskey is silky smooth on the palate but unfortunately, the mouth feel is a little on the thinnish side due to the lower proof. Overall, a good to good+ whiskey expression with no off putting notes. As most here would say, would have loved to see this at higher proof, but I feel that they did give the old brand a pretty fair shake with this release to the market (sure could've done a lot worse)!

Between a buddy and I, we put down literally over a ton of landscaping gravel/stone in my yard today, along with digging up and replacing another downspout drain pipe. Pretty friggin' hard work for an accountant! As a reward, we grilled up some burgers and drank a couple of pours of ETL, followed by a healthy pour of ECBP, batch 8.

Was at a family event last night, typical rubber chicken kind. All they had was Jack, can't remember the last time I drank it neat but being relatively new to this bourbon adventure it was ok. It was a surprisingly nice contrast to all the others I've been pouring lately, EC12, BT, 1792, and RR. Was not exactly complex but I enjoyed it for what it is, sweet easy pour especially when ones only other option are no name brand vinegar or bud light

RR10 to start the night. Moved on to a pour of Blantons it's been hard to resist this bottle since I opened it a few nights ago

Tonight, a pour of Angel's Envy (Port Wine Barrels). My first taste of this one, actually any of the Angel's Envy, it's nice, and really I thought there was gonna be more of a finish taste, but not bad at all. For the price and I think it's a little to hot for it's proof, so I would not buy it again.

A observation, usually whiskey/bourbon after taking a sip, there would be a film left behind, with this stuff, I get bubbles.

A grocery store by me has Old Forester Sig on sale for $20.99. That's a better deal than I can find anywhere. I did a side by side with the W12 I have open. I honestly think I like them both, not one better than the other to me. I'm not saying they taste the same; different mash bills, house styles, ages. I think I can be happy with OF Sig and some of the HH bonded brands; all quality bourbons that aren't too expensive or hard to find. A little bourbon Zen for my 1000th post. :pope: :toast: :thankyousign:
