What bourbon are you enjoying? Fall 2015!

A grocery store by me has Old Forester Sig on sale for $20.99. That's a better deal than I can find anywhere. I did a side by side with the W12 I have open. I honestly think I like them both, not one better than the other to me. I'm not saying they taste the same; different mash bills, house styles, ages. I think I can be happy with OF Sig and some of the HH bonded brands; all quality bourbons that aren't too expensive or hard to find. A little bourbon Zen for my 1000th post. :pope: :toast: :thankyousign:

Just wrapped up a very intense project, including a lot of travel to Canada, so sitting on the patio taking a breather. Had tiny pours of WLW and GTS, now a normal pour of a PS RRSB10.

Starting the night with a small pour of Rock Hill Farms, it's been open for about 1 month, and it really has opened up! VERY tasty. Will follow it with a blend of OWA and W12. Happy Tuesday!

Poured a 1.5 oz pour of OGDBIB and could tell the remainder wouldn't be enough for a full pour so the remaining 1oz went into my last pours decanter which is in need of being topped off a fair bit so that bottle will live on in a mingle for some time. The near empty pints of Blanton's and MMCS are on deck along with my Fozzy's BT114 blend bottle and the remainder of the OGD114 bottle that helped to create the current mingle. Bottle killing mode is in full effect here to make room to open some different bottles from the bunker.

After a solid Mets win I had to crack open the Blanton's bottle. Had a couple of healthy pours.

Then had some ETL. Did a side by side and if I had to choose I'd pick Blanton's.

Yes, nice Mets win last evening willmohawk, and that's a heck of a trio there with Blanton's, RHF and ETL. I generally come out with RHF ahead as between those three, but they're all terrific in their own right.

Last evening, I had some OWA single barrel. It's like coming home to an old friend, as OWA was one of the first "serious" bourbons I started dabbling in after I joined SB.

Here are some factoids about this OWA. It was advertised as a single barrel when I ordered it a couple of years ago, but when the bottles arrived, the bottles did not contain the telltale gold label on the side of the bottle indicating a store select single barrel. This was a reputable store though, and after some communication with the owner, he assured me that this was in fact a single barrel selected with Harlen Wheatley, and the owner simply didn't like the gold labels so he did not want them. These bottles are quite good, and I simply marked these bottles myself to know they are the store selections.

Another factoid about OWA--OWA seems to have virtually disappeared in NJ in the last year or two, as I have not seen a bottle on the shelf during that time. OWA used to be abundantly available in NJ. I am of course well stocked, but damn if I'd be able to find a bottle if I wasn't. Times have sure changed.

About a month ago I was able to be part of a SAOS SiB pick, and it came in today...... It's about 9y 6m old, the color on this bourbon reminds me of ECBP, dark. I'm not good at tasting notes, but believe me whin I say it's good....it's very good. What is unique about this barrel is only 47 bottles came from it. I love a barrel that has lost a lot to angels share. It's like a bourbon concentration camp. This is a very good bourbon.

Smokey Beast did a SAOS barrel pick that also yielded a surprisingly small number of bottles. From all accounts, those hungry angels leave behind a high quality bourbon in a short amount of time.

I love me some OWA. I actually saw it around me back in June/July in 3 stores. One store had almost a case on the shelf. I would stop in weekly and pick one up. Then the well went dry. Should've snagged the last few I guess. But in total I think I bought 5-6 bottles up here of it.

Fall is my favorite time to drink bourbon, not that I don't enjoy it anytime. But, as late as it it is, it is still summer, here. :shocked: The highs for the next few days are still in the mid-80's F. Maybe there will be good bourbon drinking weather, soon.
