What bourbon are you enjoying? Fall 2015!

Had some FRLE small batch 2014 last night along with some 7 year old Old Fitz Prime and 6 year old Cabin Still. FR is really a heavy hitter.

Some mystery bourbon.... I poured a bottle that was close to being empty into a 200ml bottle several weeks back and didn't lable it. What ever it is it's good.

Stagg Jr. batch #5 and loved every last drop. After that I had a small pour of Barterhouse and it wasn't even close which one was top dog.

This night I tried pours of a newly opened Russell's Reserve 1998 (fantastic, overpriced), Master's Keep that has been opened for a few weeks (very good, but overpriced), Elijah Craig 18 that is fairly new (very good, overpriced), and SB Blend (very good, and AFFORDABLE). This time I blended 60% Weller 12 and 40% Old Weller Antique. I like this a bit better than 50/50 or 40/60. So this may be my new ratio! Weller 12 is hard to find in my area, so I will have to pace myself on this.

Bottom line, good bourbon can be found cheaply (WT101, OWA, some BIB's, etc.) and when I get caught up in chasing limited's, I need to remind myself that good bourbon is readily available. Maybe not life changing, but enjoyable nonetheless.

I will say Russell's Reserve 1998 is a very fine bourbon, but hard to find, and expensive. You know what? Wild Turkey 101 is good, affordable, and easily findable. Don't stress if you can't find it or want to pay the price.

Nice pour of a dusty WTKS from 2002. Damn respectable pour, and fitting for Thanksgiving-eve (have a flask packed for tomorrow with some dusty WT101 8yr from 1984!)

Old Crow I like the taste it's tangy. Makes a good whiskey sour. $8.99 750ml with a 3 year age statement. It feels right.
