Sluggo
I can generally figure out most of the abbreviations but some have me stumped. Is there any chance someone could update the current available list?
Sluggo
For example what is SOAS? Weller Special Reserve is missing from the list as well as several new ones like Pikesville.
Flyfish
That would be Smooth Ambler Old Scout. Go to the top of the New to Straightbourbon thread and see the Announcement section. Most are pretty simple once you get the hang of it.

meadeweber
You asked for "SOAS" and "Eb12". I actually think those might stand for someone (not you Sluggo but the original poster)who maybe had one too many pours and was referring to SAOS (Smooth Ambler Old Scout) and EC12 (Elijah Craig 12 year). :grin:There is an Ezra Brooks 12 of course but I'm not aware of a SOAS. bullitt
I'm guessing it would be too laborious to update lists of 1000's of abbreviations. I wouldn't want to do it. When I see one that I don't recognize I just move on not knowing what they're talking about unless I get determined and do some research or look to see if it's on the list. I figure if the poster wants everyone to know what juice he's talking about or if it's that unusual they'd spell it out. I'm new and I'm using abbreviations as well but would just as soon spell them out for other newbie's benefit and convenience.

jaxn slim
What's juice?I'm reasonably certain he's referring to the liquid expressed from the charred oak barrel-shaped fruit native to the US.
Sluggo
I think it's easier to spell out what bourbon we are talking about but then again being unemployed I have more time to type out the full name. But if people prefer to use abbreviations it would be nice to keep the list updated as more new bourbons become available. Im interested in what you all have to say but if I can't understand what bourbon you are referring to I have a tendency to skip over it.

fishnbowljoe
FYI, and FWIW…. If things go as planned when we switch over to the new site, the abbreviations should be much easier to discern. Cheers! Joe

Don't worry about it. Soon enough you'll be telling us how much you love that OBSF. But not until you get through Hell Week. Until then, just get used to saying, "Please, sir, may I have another ORVW."
