Don't know how you burn 3200 calories on your bike in 63 miles.   My Harley only burns 1.5 gallons of gas in 63 miles and doubt I burn calories....

My taint hurts just thinkin' about that, man.    That's a lot of time in the saddle.  

Blanton's out front on a gorgeous Sunday afternoon.  Blanton's truly is glorious whiskey.  The subtleties throughout really make sipping it a wonderful exercise in bourbon exploration.  One of the great whiskies of the world, IMO.

And I have you to thank for deciding to revisit Blanton's. It was an early purchase in my enthusiast journey and though I liked it, I declared it to be too easygoing and smooth for the price. (If I'm honest, there was a bit of snobbery in that decision because so many non enthusiasts drink Blanton's simply because it's "high end" and I was "better" than that because I could find value whiskies that tasted good.) I was also looking for bolder and more challenging whiskies and Blanton's was just too easy. A couple years later you wrote about it's refinement and elegance so I thought I ought to give it another go. I'm glad I did.

My favorite family of flavor is the ETL, Blanton's, Rock Hill Farms gang.

Every year I go to a statewide meeting that involves the finest young farmers in Louisiana.

I've made lifelong friends and valuable connections throughout the years.

And every year it's Beer and Wine at the event.  Usually one bottle of crown royal is on the table. This year I brought a store select ER10 along.

Bourbon has taken on a new name in our society. The bottle didn't last long and the buzz was great. Grand Slam!

Featherbone Bourbon Whiskey by Journeyman Distillery in Three Oaks, Michigan.  BUT - we're drinking it in cocktails - 1:2::whiskey:lemon soda plus black walnut bitters over ice.  These work well with "Galavant".  During "Downton Abbey", though, we'll switch to Avocaat, lemon juice, and simple syrup over ice.  When that's done, I'll be fishing my OGD bonded out of the trash can by my chair to fill my glass from time to time.

After reading Joe's post I started with some Blanton's last night and then move on to RHF.  I still find the RHF to be a much more impressive pour than regular Blanton's.

I finished the night with an '14 OFBB.

I bought and opened an EC12 (with the 12 on the back).  

I'm going to miss the 12-year version as it goes to NAS, as it was the first bottle I bought back in 2003 to begin my current bourbon journey.

Tonight I'm just hanging around the house watching some live concerts on DVR..

 

First act: EC12 with a small ice cube.

Second act: OGD114 with a small ice cube.

Finale: 4R Mariage 2009, probably my most favorite bourbon ever.  I'm always amazed at how exquisite this bourbon is, as if it were custom-tailored for my palate.  I just opened this one a week or two ago, and I have one unopened one left.

Another late night at work.  Tonight I went with some MM46 with dinner when I got home, and now I'm topping it off with a pour of ECBP, because....well.....it's Monday and I wanna.

It's a WT kind of night. WT101 to begin, followed by RRSB "The Spicy One", followed by RRSB "The Sweet One".

Right now the Spicy One is winning the evening.

sampled some OGDBIB and OldFitz BIB last night before settling on VOBBiB.  OFBIB seems kinda thin to me and lacking flavor, OGDBIB def has the flavor and spice bomb, kinda felt my tongue getting a little bit numb after that.  VOBBIB, sits pretty well with me actually, and it was a nice balance of flavor, and at $14 around here, it's really hard to beat!
