Polished off the last small pour of WTRB tonight. Good news is there is another now in the bunker. Bad news is, it is the last one. I guess I will have to fix that next time they go on sale in the state.

ASIDE - anybody think my obsession is getting out of hand?

As if anyone here is ever likely to think that! Although I presume you are not likely to be posing this question your spouse/significant other...

I've relegated a few bottles from recent weeks to the "big blue bin" . DISCLAIMER: I'm not 100 % sure, but I may have missed a few since the let time I posted here. :D

A BT private selection from Eagle River is gone bot not forgotten. I'm very sad to see this one go because it was my last one. :( I also finished a Weller SR, and a Notter Bourbon. Here's a side note on the Weller SR and Notter. Both were okay, but vatted together, they were pretty darned good. ;) I'm guessing that I probably finished the last 2/3's of each bottle by vatting them together. Good stuff.

Cheers! Joe

Just finished another bottle of EC12. Good thing there is EC12 as far as the eye can see in the bunker. It should be replaced in the morning.

I had been doing some different tastings this week, which was really fun, but last night I just relaxed with a good ol' WT 101 and, wouldn't you know, I finished the darn bottle!

Just finished a Hudson Baby Bourbon.  Fortunately, it was only a 375 ml...had a hard time putting the nails in that coffin!

Wrapped up an ER 10 tonight. Wasn't near as good as the previous bottle.....this one had more of a grassy taste.

Had to say goodbye to the last pour of '14 GTS tonight. I really enjoyed this bottle and wish I could have made it last just a while longer. Maybe I will be lucky to find a replacement this fall.

A CEHTSiB was retired last night.  That's some good whiskey.  Looking forward to the next one . . . it's waiting patiently in the basement.

I finished off one of my all time favorite bourbons today. Alas, a bottle of 07 WLW was relegated to the big blue bin in the sky. :( It was absolutely wonderful right down to the very last chewy pour. :P

Cheers! Joe

Today I finished off the first and only bottle of ETL that I've been able to find I'm going to miss that fine refreshment until I find a replacement.

BIL Bob is in Louisville tonight and I texted him to ask if he could stop by a liquor store and look for bottles of ETL and W12. Even if he finds some, it may not get here since his son in law, whom he'll be visiting, enjoys a good bottle of Kentucky's finest. I have to take that chance.

I was taking out the recycling earlier this week when I noticed these three gorgeous bottles among the milk, ketchup and various rif-raf. It was a damn fine week, and fresh bottles of ECBP and HVSRW will console me.

Great picture, IncNo.  Did you lie down on the pavement to get it, or did you crawl out from the house?;)

My concern is that Hoch Rye bottle is a waste of a good screw cap bottle for use in blending and storing other stuff! B)

Nah, just had a good kneel, no laying down required.

And  tanstaafl2, you can see my love for HVSRW in the HVSRW thread in the rye section.

Oh, I like it as well. I just tend to keep the decent screw cap bottles as my storage and blending bottles and get rid of ones with corks as they just don't seem as dependable or convenient for storing other liquors unless the bottles are otherwise unique and interesting like IW Harper 15 bottles for example (I can't even remember if it is a screw or cork closure on the Harper. Pretty sure it is a cork!).

Ah, got it. Now that you mention the stoppers,  EC is one of the worst cork situations I know. First, the backwards slope makes it hard to pull. Then there's the concept of how fat it is, it just seems to allow for more shrinkage. If you're not careful, an EC cork will dehydrate and become too small for the bottle. And then there is the problem of breakage. I've had two corks from EC bottles just plain break and need a corkscrew for removal. And then I've even had a EC cork plastic top wholly remove from the cork leaving it behind.

Then of course usually it's  fine. But suffice it to say, maybe the worst cork out there.

Oooh, I'm showing this to my wife - she covets the space above the fridge (which she can't reach without a ladder) where I store MY tall, narrow empties with screwtops.
