jeffrey r
Ya want to know what I bought today? Knob Creek Small Batch, 9 year age stated. For the bunker. I am bunkering frickin Knob Creek, the bourbon that is in every liquor store, and every bar, in every darn town in this country. Well, at least I bought the holiday gift sets, for less than the going rate for the bottle alone, so I get some nice rocks glasses as well. I like Knob Creek, and though not one of my favs, it is a staple, and I am suspect of the NAS being as good as the age stated.
grantsi
I wandered into my local store and found a case of Weller 12 750's and 1.75's but when I brought 2 up to the counter, I was told the owner hasn't decided what to charge so I should come back tomorrow. That doesn't fill me with confidence Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

This is the first one I've seen - I'm curious if the EC barrel program is back in full force or if it is more limited than before. It is back but is very limited. A group I'm a part of just picked two barrels. They are hard to get though. I'm not sure how quickly they'll ramp back up.

dSculptor
Got me the new bottle of EC - have not tried the new stuff as of yet, I was refusing to buy it..but since it's the new style bottle , I thought I would try a SbS with the old stuff, plus it was only $22. They opened up a new huge Total wine place in Brookfield. Not a bad selection, naturally, all of the BT's 750 & handles were empty, along with Blanton's. If it's as good as the ones you picked sound then I'll be pretty happy. They brought in a number of EC casks a few years ago and they were all very good and also unique.Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Mule Skinner
I was out of state visiting some family a couple weeks ago, and picked up 2 bottles that I can't get here. One was a Woodford Reserve Double Oaked, and the other was a Smooth Ambler Old Scout Single Barrel 10 year old. The WRDO is good, but I prefer the regular WR. As for the Old Scout, I wasn't too impressed at first, but after coming back to it a week later, it gets better with time, and now wish I had brought back 2 bottles! kcgumbohead
A LS 4RPS OESV to bring down the curtain on 2016 purchases. BDanner
Got an email that my store had gotten in a small number of Blanton's and Buffalo Trace, as well as 1792 High Rye and a couple others. Mulled it over all day at work and decided not to stop in. Left work and stopped in anyway. Left with my second ever bottle of Blanton's. If it's as good as my currently open bottle I'll be happy. Especially since I have no idea when they'll have it again.

Today, I got a call from another store saying she has a case of Blantons so I decided to pick one up as the bunker was down to two. cheers! kwshannon
Purchased a MMCS 375 for the bunker. Looks like its going to be a cold winter, may need to open that in January.
DonutsNBourbon
nice, just picked an CEHT SmB up too for the bunker for $40. I love this bottle and I have many others that I bunker, but this one I don't for some reason, so I figured I would pick it up for that very reason. Paddy
KC (age stated) gift set. It was a no brainer as everything on the shelf was NAS (w/out the rocks glasses), and at the same price to boot.
grantsi
Here's hoping the prices are reasonable. Stopped in at 5pm today...owner told me he kept 2 1.75's and 2 750's aside along with 1 ETL...I enthusiastically pulled my credit card before discovering:$99.00 Weller 12 750$169.00 Weller 12 1.75$139.00 ETLHe also had Antique 107 for $129.99I was appalled - told them that was way too rich for my blood and said today was not my day. They said this was the fair price and only had a 20% markup. The hunt continues Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Paddy
^^^^Good for you. He ain't even in the same zip code of where fair price resides.
Acs2653
Picked up a bottle of EC small batch. It's the new stuff for 22.00. I also picked up old forester 1870 since it was new and the last bottle. After reading reviews I probably should have gone for the staff Jr or blantons since the shelves were stocked full!Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
flahute
Surprised myself tonight. I'm on record in the PHC 24yr BIB thread saying I was out at the suggested MSRP. But this happened today: got the email from Total Wine saying that I had a limited window of opportunity to buy Pappy Van Winkle because I'm a Grand Reserve Member. It was available at one particular store. I got there about 3 hours after the email went out. They were sold out. They had 45 bottles total and sold out in about 30 minutes after the email went out. I guess there's a lot of Grand Reserve Members out there who live or work close to the store. Being a member at the highest level guarantees nothing. After work I stopped at a small independent I support to inquire when their toy/food drive would start. (It's how they handle the limiteds - donate toys and food for raffle entries. It's an effort I like to support). While there, they offered my the Parker's for $250. Figuring I might get shut out on everything else this year, I went for it. Glad I did. It's very good and not overoaked. You can taste the age in the form of complexity. Wild ride of a day.
