Brought home an Evan Williams 12 year, 101 proof, from Japan. Not sure how they can sell it for $22, but I'm not complaining...just wish I'd had room for more.

KC (age stated) gift set.  It was a no brainer as everything on the shelf was NAS (w/out the rocks glasses), and at the same price to boot.

is the NAS KC out already? I haven't seen any yet

Took a different route home from work last night and stopped by a Total Wine that I'm only infrequently able to stop.  An employee working in the bourbon aisle and I chatted for a while before he asked if I was looking for anything in particular.  Mentioned the hunt for some more OGD114 before it's gone and he lit up and led me to the last two bottles they had, he mentioned that he had also just grabbed two and that everyone used to scoff when he recommended it but that he had converted many to the cult of OGD114.

So two bottles of OGD114 and also picked up a 1792 full proof.

They had a few bottles of OF1920 which I've been wanted to try based on the reviews here, but I passed because I didn't want to get cut in my sleep by my wife.  So I may have to make a ninja run this weekend and liberate a bottle.

Yeah I see it regularly at 39.99.

Haven't seen it for less than $50 here in DC. Should have waited until we went to Detroit for Christmas, but I really wanted it.

Sometimes you have to pay up for something you really want, I've done it many times.

NAS KC is all over the place in NJ.  750's and 1.75's.  This was a swift lopping off of the age statement.  Any new stock that I have seen within the past few weeks, excluding the gift sets, has been NAS.

Nice Choice, Nice Price. Would be nice if those prices were around here.

Surprised myself tonight. I'm on record in the PHC 24yr BIB thread saying I was out at the suggested MSRP.

But this happened today: got the email from Total Wine saying that I had a limited window of opportunity to buy Pappy Van Winkle because I'm a Grand Reserve Member. It was available at one particular store. I got there about 3 hours after the email went out. They were sold out. They had 45 bottles total and sold out in about 30 minutes after the email went out. I guess there's a lot of Grand Reserve Members out there who live or work close to the store. Being a member at the highest level guarantees nothing.

After work I stopped at a small independent I support to inquire when their toy/food drive would start. (It's how they handle the limiteds - donate toys and food for raffle entries. It's an effort I like to support). While there, they offered my the Parker's for $250. Figuring I might get shut out on everything else this year, I went for it. Glad I did. It's very good and not overoaked. You can taste the age in the form of complexity.

Wild ride of a day.

Very nice to hear, I'm going to be cracking mine over the holiday, curious if you ended up with Fall 90' or Spring 91'?

Stopped in at 5pm today...owner told me he kept 2 1.75's and 2 750's aside along with 1 ETL...I enthusiastically pulled my credit card before discovering:

$99.00 Weller 12 750
$169.00 Weller 12 1.75
$139.00 ETL

He also had Antique 107 for $129.99

I was appalled - told them that was way too rich for my blood and said today was not my day. They said this was the fair price and only had a 20% markup.

The hunt continues

There's no indication which one it is. Where is that supposed to be on the label/bottle?

It's on the description of the back of the bottle.

Is this one easy to find in Japan?

Got it. I was looking for something hand written and didn't read the fine print on the label itself.

I'll check tonight when I get home.

I was at a local tasting and lottery last night (I posted the whiskey list in the "Passed" thread the other day).  It was all BTAC and Van Winkle with 24 bottles of ETL thrown in.  My number was not drawn but a friend didn't want his bottle, so I picked up his VW Lot B for the bargain price of $99 (sarcasm) and also a Hancock's that wasn't part of the drawing.

I arrived about 20 minutes early to the tasting and found out the Four Roses distributor/rep had brought 4 bottles of Elliot's Select and 6 bottles of 2016 SmBLE for the store.  I missed out on both.

I was out doing some holiday shopping and stopped in at two smaller, less traveled stores in my area. I walked out with some WP12, OWA, and 2 bottles of EC12. I had been wanting to try out EC and when I saw they had the older stock of EC12 I figured I should snag those. I have a pal that loves it so if it's not to my tastes I will more than likely gift him the 1.75

Curious to know what you think of the Woodford Reserve MC Brandy Finish.

Over the course of this week:

8 @ OGD 114, at $25 and $27 per bottle.  I have 11 total at the moment, I might buy a few more if I can find them at this kind of pricing.  I have enough to last me a while, now that I'm on "personal allocation".  Sad to see this one leave the market, it's one of my very favorite bourbons, and has been a screamin' bargain for years.

1@ BT Bourbon Cream, $22.  I bought it out of curiosity, and I really like it when compared to the various Irish Cream liqueurs.  Need some amaretto and Frangelico to mix some cream cocktails.

1 @ ETL.  I paid $42, but this was an exchange for a leaking bottle of KCSB, which the store ran out of.  I was surprised to see the ETL on the shelf.

1 @ Hochstädters Rock & Rye 100 proof limited.  Because I'm curious.  At a party I threw last winter, my guests polished off 90% of a bottle of the regular 84 proof version...

I'm now in a bunch of Pappy/BTAC/PHC lotteries.  Dunno what I'll do if I win.  Pappy continues to underwhelm me (except for my old bottle of Lot B, and the VWFRR).
