Went out hunting for the TX Bourbon, which I eventually found a lone bottle of, but then also caved in and got a Bookers before the price hike, and also a 1792 high rye.

In the last week I bought a Booker's (same as everyone else...wanted one before the price hike) and two pappy 20s.  Apparently I was still on the waiting list for the pappys (VA is good about fulfilling the list)...been about 4 years I think...don't even remember when I put my name in.

That's the Small Batch, not the new 10 year that has been pretty popular around here.

GRRRR... got talked into buying a Basil Hayden's for $46. Knew I shouldn't, said no several times but he kept pushing it and telling me how good it was. I asked "isn't it just glorified Beam?" he said it wasn't and he guaranteed I'd like it. I rationalized that I shouldn't pass judgement until I've tasted it... well now I've tasted it. MAJOR buyer's remorse... but he did hold a couple ETL for me last month when he only got six in so... They may have figured out that I'm a sucker for anything I haven't tasted yet...

Stopped by a small town store on the way home just to see if they might have a Booker's. They did and it stayed on the shelf at 64.99. However 2 Stagg Jr at 49.99 found a place in my bunker as well as two of the old label Jim Beam Black age stated 8 years at 18.99.

Basil Hayden is made by Beam, but it's made from the same high rye mashbill used to make Old Granddad, and aged a bit longer. Give it another chance after its had a bit of air time and you may find that it's not so bad. I actually like Basil Hayden, but it's under-proofed and over-priced.

Bought the first full size bottle of Blanton's in the last year or more (usually buy the 1/2's cause they're cheaper) and not bourbon but a bottle of Bailey's Cherry Cordial for the Holiday

I think I'm one of the few on here that like OGD114 but don't care for the OGD BiB. I get that same taste from the OGD Bib and the BH... I struggle to identify it, it is like a sickly sweet taste like rotten fruit or something. It is more subtle in the BH due to proof I suspect, but it is not one I care for. I just don't get that same taste in the 114. I also have an $11 Old Taylor 6yo that i suspect will have that same profile as it has the "Clermont, Frankfort" label.

I'm with you...While I think the BIB is okay, it is not in the same league as the 114 for me. I have yet to try the BH, but I understand that it and the 114 enter the barrel at a lower proof than the BIB and 80 proof OGD. That price for 80 proof watered down OGD 114? No thanks.

SAOS 10 and 7x2.  I think these have been discontinued, but not sure.  Either way, don't see them too often anymore so I grabbed them.

Sorry, I should have clarified, they did not have the RY10 SB on hand, but he offered up the Weller 12 and ETL. I also grabbed the RY reserve to try as I haven't had anything in their line before.

was out buying wine for the wife and was offered a Lot B. Not a huge Lot B fan but figured I shouldnt turn it down at fair pricing

In opposition to the current state of NAS and $100 Booker's, I went out and picked up some dusty budget champs:

 

1x FC103 with 6-year age statement.

1x VOB with 6-year age statement (out the door for $11.16 including tax).

2x OGD BiB with the orange caps (tip of the hat to some of you old-timers : )

 

Take that, Beam Suntory!
