I get that same taste from the OGD Bib and the BH... I struggle to identify it, it is like a sickly sweet taste like rotten fruit or something. It is more subtle in the BH due to proof I suspect, but it is not one I care for. I just don't get that same taste in the 114. I also have an $11 Old Taylor 6yo that i suspect will have that same profile as it has the "Clermont, Frankfort" label. I'm with you on the 114 vs the BIB, bought the BIB one time and that was the only and last time. For $4 more, it was a no brainer to get the 114 instead

More appropriate. You probably laugh when people slip on ice? I am totally flabbergasted by this over the top, hyper-sensitive, and entirely off base post. One (or both possibly) of two things is apparent. You have not read the exchange between Kepler and myself that led to BigRich's comment, or you have a severe liability in understanding context. At its core, my initial comment that sparked Kepler's apparent hurt feelings was simply me using a little artistic freedom in pointing out the obvious irony in his purchasing some Beam-Suntory products while simultaneously exalting "Take that Beam-Suntory!" Now, I did apologize as Kepler did seem hurt as he responded by calling me a Negative Nancy. Honestly, I felt no need to apologize, but did so to offer an olive branch in an attempt to defuse the situation. BR, obviously saw the same, and enjoyed my little literary dalliance, which was not personal in the least bit. My gosh man, please find better use for your dispersion of your self righteousness judgements.

I have a thing about not buying scotch that has E150 coloring in it. The standard bottlings by Lagavulin have it, but these two don't, so I'm happy to be able to add another Islay distillery to my collection. Yes, it is unheard of here as well. Typically, the cheapest price around here is the mid-$30s. The store had it on sale for $31.99 and then I got a 15% discount when I bought 6 bottles of whiskey and wine. I picked up two. I opened up one last night and this is a really good barrel. I wish I would have picked up a few more at that price. I still might. I am not sure when the sale ends.

The price of the set is cheaper than the bottle alone, it has the age statement, and the rocks glasses are great. The rocks glasses have taken their place in my bar next to my Four Roses rocks glasses. I have seen the same set with the age stated bottle and rocks glasses. And, the price in Indy, is also similarly cheaper than the bottle alone. I am going to hit up the store right after Christmas to see if they put them on sale. If not, I will see if the manager will let me pick up a couple for $25 each. It is a grocery store. They have a lot and they don't seem to be moving. The rocks glasses are really cool! While I have a lot of rocks glasses, including the Four Roses glasses, I would probably still buy these glasses without the bourbon if I was at the gift shop. jeffrey r
Here is the Knob Creek glass along with my two types of Four Roses glasses. All purchased around holiday time in gift sets for less than the bottles alone (terrific barrels of FRSB in the case of the FR gift sets).

Prof_Stack
Bought some Woodinville Whiskey Flagship Bourbon (Woodinville, WA), 5-year aged in large barrels. SO good.
