What bourbon did you purchase today (winter 2016/17)?

I haven't bought much this year yet, just a handful at most.  Been working on clearing the bunker, and so far so good.  Where I had about 103 bottles in mid-December, I'm down to 92 right now.  Many of them were nearly empty for those of you thinking I'm a lush hah!  Although the two weeks off over the holidays were very productive in this regard!

Thanks to a fellow SB'er, I was able to grab (2) 375ml bottles of Abraham Bowman Release #15 Gingerbread/Cocoa beer finished Bourbon - 9y - 90pr for $98 out the door.  Little higher then I wanted to pay, but real happy to have the chance to purchase as it has a bottle I have been trying to find since it was released.  Going to crack on tonight, enjoying the fruits of my labor(orious trek).

Picked up an '06 EWSB. What is the consensus on this year? Oldest one I've seen around lately.

For my tastes '04 and earlier is good. Things slipped after that and didn't improve again until '08. Just my preference and since its a single barrel probably doesn't even apply to your bottle.

Good to know. I'll crack it open sometime this week and find out if it was worth it. It's hard to find anything prior to '08 so I jumped on it.

VSOB "6" BIB -- for 16.99 couldn't pass it up.  Also got a bottle of Campari for 17.99 at the same store.  For Chicago prices, that's prty damn good!

I do like the '07 alot, but not the '05 & '06.

I saw an '02 last week, but they wanted $44 so passed.

Visiting MN, stopped at TW near Mpls that has better deals than Iowa.

Picked up MM for 18.99 for 750ml, passed on shelves full of Two Star for 17.99 (750ml).  Going to circle back today for EW 1L at 10.99.  Had a bottle of 1792FP in cart for 54.99 but put it back, may get it today.  Did not see any Booker's.  Passed on several items, GD114 for 17.99 (I have 2 in bunker), Bernhiem for 25.49, and ECNAS for 21.99.  May look for EWSB for 19.99 if they have one, regardless of year that should be OK.

Went back today, picked up a EWB 1L for $10.99, and a EWSB 07 for $19.99.  3 bottles of quality bourbon for $50.

I picked up a bottle of Knob Creek with the 9 year age statement. I loathe Jim Beam white, but I had a pour of Knob Creek at Buffalo Wild Wings (very slim pickings) and I liked its kick.
For the price, I likely won't get any again, but maybe it will surprise me.

While in London, I was able to pick up a Blanton's SFTB, Blanton's Gold and a Jefferson's Rye 10 Year. Unfortunately, the Gold didn't make it home since we drank it there.

Didn't see any WT13 in Duty Free or anywhere else.

Lucky you.  I think that stuff is fantastic!

My advice is hide the second bottle from yourself, or you'll soon find them both empty.

At Bevmo this AM, I bought a Old Grandad BIB and a Rittenhouse Rye.  Also picked up a mini of Jack Daniels Single-Barrel to check it out to see if I want to buy the bottle later.

I noticed the sale price on Knob Creek small batch - it NO LONGER has the 9-year age statement.  Bastards.

After trying  Image result for johnny drum   and      Related image   this weekend I pulled the trigger and picked up a couple of bottles today.

Not a bourbon but I also picked up a bottle of

Image result for emblem cabernet   20011 vintage Cabernet Sauvignon.  They had it on a special and I couldn't pass it up.

I bought a bottle of John J. Bowman Single Barrel. It is my most expensive bottle of bourbon so I hope that it doesn't suck.

I have mixed feelings about the bottle of JJB SiB I've been working on.  The taste of my barrel is definitely unique.  It has this strange mingling of copper, leather and oak.  With some air time it has calmed down to the point where I don't mind it. Reviews are generally good, let us know how it turns out.

Took a two state road trip today and hit 18 different liquor stores. Ironically the 13th store was the only one with good finds. Bought a FC 6yr 17.99. Two VOBBIB with 6 yr age statements at $16.99 each and a RHF for $49.99. Funny thing was when I set the RHF on the counter he quickly showed me a Blantons for $69.99 which I passed on. 17 stores with nothing of interest tells me the days of dusties are winding down.

It's not bad, but at $50+, no way.
