What bourbon did you purchase today (winter 2016/17)?

Jim Beam White Label is probably my least favorite whisky. I bet that it tastes much better when it is 12 years old. This was the "rarest" bottle at Meijer, so I figured that I would give it a try.

I think it sounds good if maybe lacking slightly on the proof.

I like the DC and DO versions well enough.

Had a somewhat successful day of hunting.  Found these two RY10 sitting on the shelf of a very unlikely location.  I wasn't thrilled with the $56 price, but how could I pass?  Both bottles are from barrel #4744379.  The SAOS SiB was bottled by Sarah on my birthday in 2015, had to buy it.  Kind of cool at an even 100 proof cask strength.

The local ABC got a case of Virgin Bourbon by "mistake". This is normally not carried in VA, but some stores occasionally have it. I grabbed 3 bottles. It's great stuff for the price ($15).

Not to worry.  I've done several SBS's and couple of them were blind and with newbie drinkers and with bourbon lovers.  NONE of us could tell the difference.  BUT, check back in six months.  Here's hoping that, like the VOB BIB "6yr" which became VOB BIB "6", years out we can't tell a difference, but . . .

That is a great wife, indeed. The only bottle that my wife has brought home for me is Buffalo Trace, bit that is better than nothing.

As part of our Beam Distillery tour yesterday we, my son and I, picked up 3 bottles.

 

I got a bottle of KCSiB and he picked up one of the same and he also got the last bottle of Booker's (Batch 2016-05) they had in the entire gift shop.  We had tasted the 2016-04 and the 2017-01 (not in stores yet) at our tasting.  I have a bottle of 2016-06 but our tour guide, Josh, had said that if they had any of the 05 batch in the gift store that he liked it better than the other two we tasted.  They had one on display on the upstairs bar and when my son asked if he could buy it they said sure and went upstairs, put it in the box and brought it down for him.

Over here in the UK we aren't blessed with much choice off the shelf and I've bought a fair bit online. Spotted a bottle of Four Roses Small Batch on the shelf of Marks & Spencer so picked it up, it's the only store I've seen it for sale in. 

 

Just out of interest right next to it was 12yo Elijah Craig but I've got 2 of those stashed away so thought I'd give the 4R a try.

I know, right! I can't complain, it was a great price, but the last two I've bought were even cheaper, €89 a bottle. At the end, Europe is not so bad.

Just curious what the bookers was priced at down there? Just saw the first official jump in price here in Michigan in this last round of updates.

Flew into Dallas last Monday for a week of meetings in a hotel with a poor selection and high per pour prices so I headed to a couple of stores and bought Belle Meade 9 yr SB at 116 proof, KCSB, and BT for myself and to share. The Belle Mead was the clear winner and went quick followed by the BT, we went through 2/3 of the KCSB Thursday night and I dropped off what was left at a table full of SnapOn guys who had been drinking beer all night and told them to enjoy!

Picked up these two today.  The KCSB is 11 years old and was stated to be 145.8 out of the barrel.

Not sure but I think it was $76.  It's on it's way up here too.  I paid $66 a couple of weeks ago for Batch 2016-06.

The single barrel is currently £29.99 on Amazon UK, bit of a bargain for these shores.

I didn't even search for it, I couldn't believe it , it wasn't cheap! €249 for a WLW. If you're asking me, I'm a big fan of wheater , it worth it.

I saw my first bottle of 1792 Full Proof in the wild today. Sitting of the shelf for $48.49. Now it's sitting on my shelf. Can't wait to try it.
