What bourbon did you purchase today (winter 2016/17)?

Since I lucked into two (2) bottles of W12 the other day, I ran out of OWA making up a new batch of the SB.com Blend (1:1).  Luckily, my local TW had a delivery today - $21.99/750 old squat bottle OTD!  It's another sunny day!    :D

Picked up a bottle of WTMK Decades today that I had asked a local ABC manager to order - opened it at the store, shared a pour with one of the people there.  This is a very complex bourbon in a very good way.  There is a lot going on with the flavors and the finish lasts and lasts.  At home now and just did a larger pour that I'm the first taste into.  It immediately reminded me of 4RSmBLE 2015 with the complexity.  After just a couple of tastes I'm in for another bottle if she can get it.

On a similar note I try to help this particular manager out with information on bourbons and what should sell well, it's a small store in a very small town and it's good to see their sales growing based on what she's doing with bourbons alone.  In this case she got the bottle for me and got at least 3 more which she had pre-sold to other customers.  Nice additional sales $ for a small location.  A lot of people don't like the "State Run" aspect of the NC system however I think the majority of the population don't realize that the stores can't make a profit above expenses and maintenance/future growth all profits have to be returned to the "local" community through the Police and Parks/Recreation mainly.  All in all it's a pretty good system

some JB double oaked to gift a coworker who did me a favor today. She likes JBW, so hopefully she'll love this.

Picked up another ECBP. Might not have really needed it but my best liquor store owner/manager pinged me so I went and picked it up. Can't risk falling out of my preferred position with this store. And, it's not like I fell in a grenade, as I do like ECBP

Scooped up another 'old bottle' of ECBP... 136.      Couldn't pass it up, though I have a few of those already.       Just such a stellar pour!

I live just a little more than an hour from BT and I couldn't find a bottle of W12 if my life depended on it.  So you had to go and rub my face in the dirt by actually buying 2 bottles. :):(

Sometimes we can find the WSR although it usually only sits on the shelf for part of one day.  I've seen one bottle of OWA in the last few weeks (of course I can now go look at it in my bourbon cabinet).  W12, scarcer than hens teeth around here.

Not to be outdone by OldFitzWithTheGoldLabel I was perusing the shelves of one of our local establishments and next to the regular VOB, pushed way back to the back of the shelf was this little gem.
VOB6_zpscwlduxct.jpeg  This has seemed to be a favorite of some of the BIB lovers so for $15 I thought I couldn't go wrong.

Excellent find. These bottles are getting tougher to track down.

Interesting lineup...if you bought them all from one location I'd guess Payless.

Funny you say that. I was recently traveling and stopped in to a big store with a huge selection and asked about Weller 12. She responded that they occasionally get it but since I live close to Kentucky I should just go there and get it. It's been my experience that KY is the hardest state to find hard to find bottles.

2 bottles of Weller Antique.  Surprised to see them.  Even more surprised to see them priced at 26.99.

Picked up some Weller SR. Not my favourite but it was on the shelf and lonely.

Three of the four were indeed Payless. One came from Mister C

There is one more bottle here in E'town.  At least it was there yesterday.

Stumbled across this at the Binny's Express last night. Was a little surprised since they don't usually get the select bottles at this location. I've tried the Small Batch and have heard great things about the Full Proof, so I couldn't pass it up.

Excellent. Whisky Advocate sure loved the 1792 Full Proof. I will be interested in reading your reaction to it. I have not seen a bottle available in any of the stores that I have looked in of late. I would like to try it.

I had the perfect storm the last two weeks. I sold something for many more times than I thought it was worth(bidding war). Then both of my favorite liquor outlets surprised me with these Weller products. Got the 12 and the liter WSR  from one store and the 1.5 WSR and the 107 from the other. The Larceny was on special for $25 and my contact at store #1 told me that all the BIB were going up in price soon so I stocked up on the McKenna and the Evan Williams.

I don't think you'll be disappointed.  One suggestion would be to let the pour set for a few minutes before tasting.  My first pour of this I took a sip pretty much as soon as it hit the bottom of the glass.  Was really put off by it and thought, "I've finally found one I really am not going to like".  After opening up the flavor profile changed completely.

Always a favorite here :-)

Grabbed this since it's the oldest I've seen in town lately

I bought an 06 recently and like it a lot. Can't make a comparison to any other vintage but judged on its own its solid.

Grabbed the new ECBP and 1972 Full Proof from Binny's. Also got a sample of Blanton's Gold and SFTB from a local buddy.

That's a hell of a nice score!
