I’ll second the fellow that said Russells Reserve single barrel.

#4 ‘alligator’ char, 110 proof, non chill filtered, rumored to be at least 8 years. WT barrel entry proof is 115 (i think) so very little added. Also, it is fairly available.

RR10 might not be a bad choice either.

I do like actually really like OE7.
In fact it is in my top 3 $20-$25 bottles. (OE7,WT101,JBDO)...depends on mood.
Have to admit I never really picked up the flavors you describe.
...there is a flavor in there I haven't been able to nail down though...maybe I can taste again with your thoughts in mind.
...."dirt, grit, leaf mold, mushroom, Good Earth, charcoal flavor" actually sounds good to me...lol...now I'm thirsty...lol

This post along with your like of EW makes me think you'd really like JW Dant. It proudly advertised the charcoal filtering and and to me has a lot of those earthy tones.

The RR's could certainly be pretty fun to try.

Be a hard decision between the SB or 10yr

Never heard of JW Dant before. Not so sure it's sold in MI. Have to keep an eye out for it...especially if I take a trip south.

Thanks earthquake.

I've only had a few of those listed HMcKenna BIBER10, and ECNAS.

I'll have to look into the others you listed.

You may well be right in looking for 10yr+

Wish my wallet agreed...lol

I've always thought the ER10 was pretty smokey.

I might have to revisit ER10 sometime.

What really stood out to me about it was how incredibly fruity it was.

Sorta reminded me of some very strong home made fruit wines I've had.....just a whiskey version of it...lol

Actually the most unique bourbon I've ever had.

Not really what I'm normally craving....but big points for being different.
