I've been told that Maker's Mark has the Maker's 46 Cask Strength in their gift shop. Are there any other distilleries of note that have selections you can only get on site? I'll be in KY in a couple of weeks and going to several places. I'm curious if there are certain things I should keep an eye out for.

Heaven Hill might have something (like Select Stock, which is "almost only" available in the gift shop - I think they did a bottling for one or two stores).

HH has had the Elijah Craig Barrel Select "grenades" in the gift shop recently.

If you're lucky Four Roses may have some gift shop only private selections.

The only problem is the price is rising and the age is dropping. I suppose it's worth it for folks who don't normally have PS bottles near them. And/or  if you value bottles with the MD's seal of approval.

I'll have to keep an eye out at the Heaven Hill shop. We have a connoisseur tasting scheduled there

Let us know if you find anything of note in their gift shop.

If you're at HH you might as well stop by Willett and check if they have anything.  I was there in late Jan on a Thursday and they released a WFE15yr Bourbon at about 1300.  I'm not sure how long it lasted but was long gone by Saturday at opening time.  There are some facebook groups that locals post to when their single barrels go out and it gets snatched up fastttt.  I'd love to snag another but who knows when I'll be down there again.   At that time HH had a dwindling supply of EC18 but no hand grenades, barrel proof, EC23, HHSS, or anything like that.  I didn't get around to checking the EW joint in Louisville.  I think EC18 was 200.  The WFE15 was 225.

Cox's Creek had a smathering of gift shop only barrels for like 72.99 in the 9 yo range I think.  I didn't buy any as I was only looking for recipes they didn't have.  The Lawrenceburg gift shop is supposed to be larger but I've never been.  Beam has Old Tub that is a gift shop only BIB 375 ml, good novelty factor there.  I don't really remember any other gift shop exclusives but I'm sure if you dig around the other places you'll find some more.  I was shooting for a glencairn and a bar mat from every distillery I've visited.

Don't forget to stop at Barton 1792 while you're in Bardstown as well, its a free tour ;D

FWIW, I scored a bottle of Elijah Craig 18 at the Heaven Hill shop and Maker's Mark has just launch their own barrel selection program so I picked up a bottle of that. Willett didn't have anything super special. 3 yr Rye that I already have and Old Bardstown BiB.

The Evan Williams Experience has their Red Label 12 year old 101 proof that is only available there or in Japan.  At $119.99 it aint cheap though.

Anything you buy at the Maker's gift shop you have the option of dipping in wax yourself. I did that last year with the Maker's 46 Cask Strength. It doesn't cost extra and it's kind of cool to do. I think Four Roses often have different PS bottlings at the warehouse site than they do at the distillery. If you pay for a tour at one, you can tour the other for free as long as it's within a certain number of days. When I was at Buffalo Trace a little over a year ago they had barrel-aged Peychaud's bitters, which was a distillery only item. I'm not sure if that was a one-off or if they always have it though.

Maker's Mark gift shop will sometimes have the 46 Cask Strength. They will also have various Private Select recipes on hand.

Last week you could get pretty much anything Maker's in their gift shop.  5 different Private select recipes, 46, cask strength, white dog, mint julep, pretty much all you want, or can carry.  Did have a few bottles you could only buy there.  Heritage bottles, one red wax, one copper wax.  Cool to dip your own.

Heaven Hill has the grenades + they had a few bottles of VSOF 12 yr, but you had to do a tour to get a bottle.  Both limited to 1 each.

BT nothing different , did have Pappy maple syrup.

Jim Beam had 375's of Old Tub BIB, great pour !

Wild Turkey nothing different

Def hit the local liquor stores.  They all had things we didn't see at the distilleries.
