1 oz Stagg Jr and 1 oz Eagle rare, with some Cherry Garcia. Not quite as awesome as Barterhouse/Stagg Jr, but fantastic in its own right.

Tried Rhetoric 23 tonight @a tasting bar,

Along with Woodford brandy cask masters collection,

And a store pick Weller special (green label) from a few years back.

Now I'm home, sipping on some VOB 86p.

Tonight is a good bourbon night.  Everything is tasting "right".

:)

I went there for the first time on Saturday. I really like their setup. Part of me is happy I'm 25 minutes from there while the other part of me wishes it were more like 5.

Grumble.......grumble........grumble.

Joe is STILL trying to get me to buy one of these.

I was singing its praises and even brought a bottle to the Sampler in April, but only a few tried it. I liked it enough that I bought a "few" for the bunker. Steve, you really need to just take the plunge! [emoji848][emoji106]

Oh, I remember. You even encouraged me to try it multiple times but there was so much to drink and I had to try that Dickel that you brought. Shoot........I had my chance and blew it.

Old Fitz didn't say he was surprised at the results but we all know it's a lot different when we taste blind. Maybe some others need to taste this lineup blind?

I was thinking the same thing, you took the words right out of my mouth.

Having a nice Monday night.  I've poured the following:

Elijah Craig Small Batch Single Barrel selected Top Ten Liquors in Blaine, MN (northern Minneapolis suburb)--it's tasting great.

Elijah Craig 12 Single Barrel selected by G-Will Liquors in Blaine, MN, they had two store selects a few years ago.  One barrel aged on the 4th floor, and one aged on the 6th or 7th.  I stocked up, and am always impressed by the rich mouthfeel and smooth deep honeyed oak taste.  I will say on the nose and finish the new Small Batch selection won out overall though.  This is comforting, as good bourbon--excluding limited editions, should not be hard to find.

Next up was a Four Roses Single Barrel selected by Toddy's Liquors in Bardstown, KY.  I picked this up on my trip to a few distilleries in April.  It's a 10 year 8 month OESV.  Great nose of rickhouse funk, savory herbs, spice and caramel.

On deck to cap the night off, but not bourbon, is Compass Box Enlightenment.  I am thinking after all the rich, woody bourbon, this may not have been the best option, but it's been neglected on the shelf of the last few months.  This reminds me a lot of an Ancnoc 16, or Balvenie 15 single barrel from a few years ago.

I bough one of those at Toddy's back in April as well. Pretty good!

Very cool!  I thought it drank really well for it's proof, normally I add a small splash of water.  I think it's around 53% ABV.  Cool to find a lower proof Four Roses.

After trying most of them, EHT small batch remains my favorite of the brand.  Not that the other variations are bad, but small batch just always hits the spot for me.

Sipping some Barrel Proof 1792 right now. I am impressed. Complex once allowed to air for 30 minutes. A great value pour, but then again, so is regular 1792.

Doing a SBS with EC barrel selections from two local stores. One is spicier and one is fruitier. I think I like the fruitier one more, but will need to repeat this experiment to make sure.
