Had some Baker's last night. Contemplating giving up the hunt and 'retiring' on this. It ticks all my boxes.

While it's tasty, it didn't do it for me, like Booker's and OGD, not a Beam fan apparently. Enjoy !

So, you're done with the hunt ?

Spent some time power washing the gutters and sidewalk last evening so I decided to reward myself with a pour of ETL, followed by 1792 SiB, PS.

Sounds like a good plan!

Couldn't wait for the weekend and cracked the Jim Beam Double Oak.  Honestly - bought this for a laugh, but I'm enjoying it more than I expected!  Heavy oak as you'd expect on the nose (and I'm not a "big oak" fan necessarily), but the palate has better balance than the white label.  Still the under-current of that Beam funk, but less prominent - and enough extra edge to more than make up for it.  Well played Beam, well played.

Decided to hit the WSR again tonight and it is still hitting the right notes tonight.  If this stuff was even 2 more proof points higher, it would amp up to another level.  I have always been a fan of Weller wheated bourbons but not much of a fan of WSR.  I prefer Larceny over WSR.  However, this bottle is better than most of the recent WSR that I have had.  So, it might not be an automatic pass like it had been recently.

Pleasantly surprised with the latest WSR I picked up. I feel it's "thicker and creamier" than bottles I've had over the past few years and definitely a "sweeter" profile. Not complex, but for the price and proof I don't expect top shelf flavors... This is a good wheater that I hope continues to exhibit this level of quality.

Gary, it's not hard to find something with better balance than white label! I used to drink it a lot as a mixer with coke in my younger days, but I just avoid it now. I do like JB Black well enough, but haven't tried the Double Oak. I'm a big fan of KC and Booker's though. I'll have to give the Double Oak a try some day since I do like a little oak in my bourbon.

KCSB Liquor Barn barrel #4621 after a filet on the grill. It's definitely worth the $36.99 I paid, but am tempted to see if Binny's picked an even better barrel.  I had some VOB BiB "6" while grilling since it had to go in a solo cup with a giant cube by the pool.

Has as anyone tried the 12 year old barrel picks they got in last week?

Old Ripy and a chocolate chip. A bit expensive, but I think my favorite Wild Turkey bourbon.

Kicked the weekend off early with a bit of SB Blend (75 OWA/25 W12), ER10, ECBP, Old Fitz BIB and OGD BIB

While the ECBP was stunningly rich, I have to say that the OGD BIB held its own very well here....even as the 'wrap up' pour of the lengthy session.

Having been on a Baker's binge recently, I thought I would open this last night which I've had tucked away for a while.

It's quite different to the current stuff, whether that's the age of the bottling or not - it definitely had a mustiness to it and the cork was dry (and in fact, broke when I went in for a second pour). Need to revisit it to get a better opinion.

WOW... LS Manager brought out his barrel proof sample bottle (seal still intact) from his recent ER barrel pick. It was 133° IIRC and it was amazing! Don't know why BT doesn't do an ERBP, but he said it held up really well to proofing down so we'll see! If it is as good as I think it is going to be I'll definitely be considering a case qty purchase on this one... I'm going to have to start looking at Bunker Expansion #2...

It might be a little older as I thought the marketing for Stagg jr was something close to nearly a decade.

Yea, I think Stagg jr is generally considered BTBP,so 8ish years or so. To approximate ER10BP one could vat Stagg Jr with GTS, roughly 3:1 ratio.
