I myself am starting to learn that store selections, especially 4R and SAOS are as good as many of the rare/limited editions

Gerry - cool set up. I really avoid wine because there is only so much bandwidth in several areas of my life that prohibit me from branching out into another alcoholic beverage category. My wallet, liver and Mrs. jvd99 would revolt if I started down the wine road in addition to bourbon, single malts and the occasional craft beer experimentation.

LOL, thanks. I've been into wine for the last 15 years but a couple of years ago my wife had to really cut back on her wine consumption which left me without a partner to drink a bottle during the week and I really can't drink a whole bottle myself and function the next day. It was then I started exploring more scotch and bourbon where I can have one or two drinks and stay sane during the week. By comparison, it's a lot cheaper too!

Here is my stash from a few weeks ago. RHF and OGD 114 have since been open. This is just my bourbon and whiskey, I remove all my other spirits.

OK, I'll be the first to admit. I've gotten a little carried away since venturing into Bourbon at the start of the year.

Currently working on the bottom/mid shelf bourbons then hope to work on some of the ones pictured here so that I can fully appreciated them / or not appreciate them.

I like that approach. Here's a thought, you'll like those bottles in your picture.

My 54 bottles have to fight for space with 500 bottles of wine.

The racks were given to me by a couple of friends who were each building their own expanded wine cellars and had no more use for these. There are two diamond cube racks that hold about 180 bottles each and a 134 bottle individual rack that I laid on top. It's all sitting on top of inverted wine cases that are supported underneath by cinder block. It helps elevate the bottles off of the floor and easier to reach. It all fits inside of a double wide closet in my basement. It's only a passive cellar but stays pretty cool even in summer months. Luckily I've slowed down my wine consumption over the last couple of years and I'm not buying as much, just enough to replenish what I've drunk. Given the crazy rise in wine prices it makes bourbon look like a bargain. Not that I buy in the secondary market but a bottle of Pappy 20 is still a lot cheaper than a good bottle of Lafite and it lasts a lot longer!

Finally finished this thread after a few days off/on of skimming thru the pics and I feel better about my current 15 bottle consumption shelf. I got into Scotch a year or two ago, then Irish, and now it's nothing but Bourbons. Once I started drinking bourbon it was hard to finish off the Irish/Scotch, which makes sense I guess since I believe my dad was a Bourbon man too IIRC. I need to finish a couple bottles before I buy any more or start bunkering downstairs on the utility shelves.

That looks like a wonderful collection to me. I researched the Woodward as I was not familiar and I can not speak to its taste. The rest are excellent examples of good bourbon in my opinion. My feelings about OGDBIB and Wild Turkey brings to mind a quote from my dad. "If you can't get it done with those two, maybe you shouldn't be doin' it." I have run the gauntlet for the last 20 years trying all kinds of bourbons and find myself coming back to OGD, Turkey and many HH products.

Thanks. I really like the Woodward. The Michter's Small Batch was quite nice. Hidden in the back row is another local from Two james Distillery called Grass Widow I am eager to open and compare to Woodward.

Here are the various bunkering areas in my home, that is except one that I cannot get to at this time, with about 5 or 6 bottles of Tequila.

You mean part of your home has become inaccessible? Force field? Cave in? Rip in the time/space continuum?

I really like two things about these pics:

1) the "good stuff" is opened and being enjoyed

2) there is no OCD organization. You've got the cats with the dogs and that's cool.

I'm entertained by all of your photos. Unfortunately, I don't own a camera (or cell phone with a camera). Keep those bunker pics coming though; they're fun to look at.

That's funny......... Spock (or who ever that Photo is) without a high tech cell phone.
