Blasphemy be damned if someone wants to blend their $30 whiskey they should go to town, if someone wants to blend their $200 Whiskey go for that as well, blend it with coke for all I care. I might try it in a glass as you've done, just to see, but doubt that I'll think it is better than W12 separately.I'm not a huge fan of WSR by itself. OGD114 is good, but not a daily sipper for me. Blending them together, however, results in a bourbon that is better than the separate parts...at least for me. I do think W12 just isn't as good a fit for this blend as the WSR. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk I wholeheartedly agree on the WSR OGD114 being syergistic together. Neither one does much for me alone, as each is just missing something that prevents it from reaching the next level. The OGD114/W12 blend was good as well, better in fact, but I don’t know if it is the same synergistic result because the W12 is so far superior to the WSR on its own. And thanks for the this tip! I mixed them, stirred thoroughly, and let sit on my counter for about an hour before tasting. I do think the different flavors didn’t quite marry, so to speak, as they would with more time resting in a bottle as you’ve suggested. I tried Batch 1 and it was very young and I did not find it to be particularly enjoyable. But it was finished in little bitty 15 gallon barrels and that didn't help! WhereIsMyOldAccount Posted December 31, 2017 Share Posted December 31, 2017 Recently tried Journeyman Silver Cross Batch 27 bottle 24 that had been open for some time. It's equal parts rye, wheat, corn, barley. Rye is the most dominant feature an it had a heavy pine/tobacco nose that also comes through on the palate and finish. A bit thin otherwise but very smooth. A few drops of water did open it up and temper the rye but the pine/tobacco note still dominates. Not bad and I quite like a strong rye presence even the dill of note LDI based products.
