NDN98
Here is my confession: OF 1910 is a more enjoyable drink than OF 1920 After having Blanton's Gold and Blanton's SFTB, I now leave regular Blanton's at stores for another customer to purchase. There is a certain flavor in WT distillate, that I just don't enjoy. It seems to be more subtle in the Russell's Reserve bottles I have purchased, but it is still there. I like Orphan Barrel Barterhouse. I am a proud Texan, but have yet to find a good bourbon that is actually distilled in Texas. I am kinda burned out on FR SiB Store Picks, regardless of the recipe. I really enjoy Very Old Barton BIB and prefer it to some bourbon's I have found that are 10X it's price.

Good, not great. - Old Forester Statesman is good - Pikesville rye is forgettable - OF 1920 has an artificial taste - Henry McKenna 10 is awful - Old Ezra Barrel Strength is boring as hell - Joseph Magnus doesn't taste like bourbon at all, cask influence is too strong - Old Fitz 9 year is terrible, thin and grassy - RHF is... very dissapointing - KC CS rye... give me a break Our tastes are very very different more power to you though
kaiserhog
If you are paying more than $50/bottle for your bourbon, you are paying way too much. IMO, the law of diminishing returns kicks in pretty fast with bourbon.

Only Texas pour I have found enjoyable so far. I don't know when they switched over from MGP, so I assumed that's why I liked it at first, thought it was still MGP. Tastes totally different than other Texas bourbons. Doesn't have that overwhelming corn forward profile.
El Vino
I confess, I have Whiskeyrexia Nervosa... I agree with the observation regarding diminishing returns, but, regrettably, that doesn’t stop me. And I take vitamins because they are good for you, but can’t stand the taste - which kind of puts a damper on anything Dickel.

Kepler
My confessions: 1. I find regular OWA boring and have a theory that it's popularity among the new chaser crowd has as much to do with fact it's a high proof Weller product (and not Blanton's or W12, which is too obvious to be cool) as much as how it it actually tastes. NCF private barrels are worth the hype though. 2. I'm starting to tire of barrel proof releases and would rather drink a 94 to 110 proof whiskey as-is than to bother with proofing down a BP. Note: I drink neat and don't add a cube normally. 3. Sometimes I literally prefer a younger 6-7 year bourbon over a well-aged one. But only sometimes. 4. I admit I have an unfair inherent bias against any bourbon not made in Kentucky. 5. I really enjoy drinking Pappy Van Winkle 15 year. Spade
American whiskey is getting pretty close to being uncompetitive from a value perspective beyond the mid-shelf. Bourbon definitely wins the bottom to mid shelf categories compared to other spirits but relatively few of the bottles of American whiskey over $50 and even fewer over $70 (that are actually obtainable) are worth it at this point.

Also, I'm a big WT101 fan but I've never had a bottle of RR SiB, even a store pick, that that I thought was worth the price. I've had at least 5 and there's hints of greatness but you really have look for it. Don't get me wrong, it's good and I'll still buy it if I see it at $40ish clearance price but not at $60+. mal00768
OWA and Weller 12 are mediocre bourbons. My impression is that I would probably feel the same way about ORVW and LotB if I was ever able to taste them. This I don’t really have fomo in regards to those two. BigRich
I haven’t bought any new bourbons in the last three years that I thought were worth the money.I also am getting burned out (no pun intended) on the north of 110 proof releases. I like higher proof (90-110) and love NCF but I’m tired having to water all this stuff down or not be able to taste for a couple of hours.
Jfletchgu
I have a hard time finding any bottle truly worth more than $100-$150 max. For example to say a particular bourbon (pappy for example) going in some places for thousands of dollars means it’s literally 100ish times more than OGDBIB or WT101 I have a hard time understanding the logic.
