CardsandBourbon
Just saw on my local bourbon group that Al Young has passed. Great loss for the bourbon world. I'm sure he's already in heaven sharing a pour with Elmer, Booker, Parker and a group of his friends.
flahute
The passing of a legend for sure. He will be greatly missed. I'm grateful I got to meet him and have conversations on numerous occasions. He was always generous with his knowledge.
lcpfratn
Sad news for sure! This makes the barrel pick I did with him in September all that more special to me.
Paddy
I echo Steve's sentiment. He was always generous with his time, his smile, his laugh, his knowledge and his favorite bourbons. A true gentleman, who I'm thankful to have encountered along my lifes pathway. He will be sorely missed. Godspeed, Mr. Young!
LCWoody
Sad to hear about the passing of a legend. I only got to meet him once. It was at Poison Girl in Houston this past summer. Very nice man.
Adam777
I saw him a couple months ago at a bourbon event and he was just awesome. He was telling people to drink up!!! (free samplings of several store pics) before he signed a number of new store pics just released. I asked him what the favorite part of his bourbon journey and he told me “events like this”. Mind you the event was for charity to which he truly cared about. Al Young 50th is still one of my favorite pours of all time. I had him make it out to my wife, Tara. Cheers to a great guy.

The Black Tot
I'm really glad he lived to see a very special edition released in his name and to enjoy his many victory laps as 4R ambassador. Never heard a bad word said about him. Wish I could have had the pleasure of meeting him that some of you had. Sounds like in addition to a great many barrels, some huge shoes need filling at 4R.

My last experience in person with him was perhaps less than memorable (let's say more annoying than "bad"), but still it's a shame to lose another of the bourbon ambassadors from the "good old days".
Vosgar
Four Roses posted this very nice 6 minute tribute to Al in this months Mellow Moments email. I was fortunate to meet Al a couple of times and did a barrel pick with him as well. Just a helluva nice guy. https://fourrosesbourbon.com/blog/al-young-in-loving-memory/?utm_source=Mellow+Moments+Club&utm_campaign=e61b1301a0-EMAIL_CAMPAIGN_2020_01_09_09_35&utm_medium=email&utm_term=0_d4cd1dc892-e61b1301a0-147327369 For all the pictures in this tribute, it's a shame there's none with Jim Rutledge
