I just don't have the Zen like the pros. I will always breakdown and pick up even more WT101 1.75 at $36.99 (at least till the cows come home).

OK. You got me with that one at that price. No brainer.

I'm certainly not a pro, but that would definitely test my Zen (regardless of the cow situation)

The only time I've done them truly SBS they were absolutely NOTHING alike to me. It made me glad I had never found a bottle of CEHT that I would have undoubtedly had to pay up for. I did a review on SB somewhere.

That's very odd. Personally, I find BT's mash #1 lineup from starnard BT, to CEHT Small batch, to Stagg Jr and CEHTBP, up to George T Stagg, all have very recognizable common family traits.

Elijah Craig Barrel Proof is the one that I buy every single time my store gets some/offers  Even with the recent $5 price jump it is still the best value out there (Rare Breed Also) and never disappoints.  I also do not turn down Weller 12, Elmer, and Rock Hill when they arrive.  Most everything else allocated  is a pickup as needed/desired and I have no problems passing on Hancocks, Stagg Jr., Eagle Rare, Blantons, WSR, W107, EHTaylor SmB & SiB, McKenna 10, etc . . .

As mentioned prior I am a buyer of the EH BP, but I tend to consider that more of a limited edition release then an allocated bottle.

I'm the same way, ECBP is my "drinker".  Still a great buy at for the price given the market.  A 12 year NCF barrel strength Heaven Hill for around 65 bucks is a good buy nowadays.  I'm also able to find it a lot more frequently in Indiana as opposed to Ohio/Kentucky when I lived there.

12 - 15 year KC SiB PS

CEHT SmB

ER

JB Distiller's Cut

RY 10 SiB

There are undoubtedly others but that is some of the first that come to mind.

I can't pass on ECBP or JBDC whenever I see them.  If I see an OWA at a reasonable price, I'll grab it too.  I'm down to my last one....sigh.

I can't pass on CEHT rye when I am traveling because it is a unicorn where I live in S. Florida. We only get SB and an occasional SiB here. I have yet to come across a BP, and I would not pass on it unless it was absurdly marked up.

Stagg Jr. is a must buy here as well as I only see a lone bottle once or twice a year.

I can't pass on ECBP at MSRP unless I have 3 bunkered. It hits the shelves just often enough that 3 will hold me over till the next batch comes out.

Always on the lookout for 4R and KC picks when traveling and won't pass when priced right.

I never pass on Blanton's at the right price because, as has been pointed out above, there are always friends/guests who go nuts for it, even if it isn't what I reach for.

I never pass on telling a friend going on a cruise or traveling abroad to look for a bottle of Blanton's Gold or SFTB for me.

For me it’s RRSiB picks and 4R Barrel proof picks.  Neither come around near enough for my tastes.  At Reasonable  prices goes without saying.

I freaked this early AM (circa 4AM ET) when I checked the Virginia ABC website and saw JB DC on sale for $12.59 a 750 (NOT A TYPO - TWELVE DOLLARS FIFTY-NINE CENTS a 750ML!!!!).   Of course, clicking on "find a store" turned up, "Sorry.  This item is no longer available."  Some YOOHAW tech nerd decided to cause us bourbon geeks an adrenaline surge.  WELL, BUCKO, it worked.  I hope you are happy.

ON THREAD - Here in Wash DC, if I see a VOB 100, which is rare here, I buy it.  Further, if I see ONE, I'll ask how many they have.  I never, ever, by more than half available.  So far, I have resisted ordering and buying it by the case.  But I can quote case discounts by the store if . . . .

Of course, the per bottle price has to be under $17.

I would drive DC for VOB 100.

It's,  literally,  my white whale.  I couldn't find it, on our last couple trips to Kentucky.  Our friend who lives in KY, can't seem to find it either, so we "settle" for the 90.

It was ECBP at or near the 50-60$ price point. Now I'm pretty sure I have enough stocked so I guess that's it then...

All of these are pretty much an instant buy as long as they are close to MSRP..

E.H. Taylor (all varieties)

Stagg Jr

ECBP

EC18

Weller 12 (haven't seen one close to retail in a bloody long time....)

I was recently in KY and that stuff was everywhere that wasn't TW. Party source next to New Riff had both 750s and 1.75L bottles.

Winner winner chicken dinner.  If I’m in town, I get every pick for RR and 4r ( only around 5-6 picks for 4r and 10-13 for RR in MN *per year*). If I’m traveling, it’s all I’m looking for.  In fact, all other distilleries disappeared except for WT, 4R and mgp, I’d be OK with that.

I'm a fan of VOB 100 but have never run across a family size before. I'll be heading to New Riff the first part of April, and even though I have a couple of the 100 6yr stashed away, I might have to stop in to the Party Source and pick up a big boy.......just because.

I got my VOB 100 at a package store in whatever little commercial plaza is on the other side of the interstate highway near the northern entrance to APG.  They had a great selection of whiskey.

They must've sold out

She went to that Party Source an hour ago. No VOB 100.  She snagged me some 90.

..and some Old Bardstown BIB, and some New Riff, none of which I can get here, so it's all good ?
