I tried some of this stuff recently at a tailgate (yes, we tailgate for baseball).  I really enjoyed it as a shot, pretty sweet but the bourbon flavor comes through in the end.  While we all have our own tastes, what is the general impression the bourbon community has of this bourbon?

I suppose it still qualifies as a true bourbon since the flavoring was added after distillation, but in my mind it's more of a novelty - something fun to drink at a party or in a mixed drink but not really something I'd pour into a Glencairn and sip on.

On a side note, this dude also brought some peanut-butter flavored whiskey that was interesting if not a bit overpowering with the peanut butter flavor.  Never made it into the game, don't know the score, awesome time.

Eh, I’m not a fan. Cloyingly sweet for me but may be cool as a mixer for a smoked Old Fashioned or something similar. My 2 cents...

Cloyingly sweet is right. Maybe in a cocktail that has plenty of bitters or citrus it wouldn't be bad (an Old Fashioned, hold the sugar?), but it's pretty horrid on its own.

Honestly, I own bourbon and maple syrup, if I need them both at the same time I can sort it out.

On the other hand, if that peanut butter whiskey is Skrewball there was a thread about it a while back and folks seemed to enjoy it a whole lot.

Not a fan of Flavored whiskey's much period. I've had JD Tenn Honey (gifted), EW Vanilla (cheap toss up) and Both WT versions. I liked the Sting a bit better, but I agree it's more for recipe's and cooking with more than sitting down and sipping. Maybe a good mixer as well for certain things.
