I’m at Watts Bar for a week and stopped at 3 different stores and was shocked at the prices. Total Wine in Knoxville had a big selection but nothing interesting. Even the Dickel 13 BIB was selling at MSRP $39. Campbell Station only had 1 barrel pick and it was a $100 bottle of Barrel Bourbon.
I was hoping to find something from Tennessee and had little luck. Uncle Nearest I haven’t seen yet but the couple of places I saw online that had it, it was the same price I’d pay in New York. Does Uncle Nearest do Barrel Picks? Do any Tennessee whiskies do Barrel Picks?
Any idea where I can find that Jack Daniels Gold Label that I’ve heard about?
Anything good in these parts? I LOVE this area but would also love to find some good bottles to bring home.

Campbell Station was out of the KCSB pick? I got one there in June for like $40 and it is nearly 15 year and quite good.

You should also try McScrooge's and MC's if you want barrel picks. Sometimes Cedar Bluff W&S also has picks too. If you can find the Cumberland Cask releases, those are fantastic. It's Dickel with a variety of finishes, ruby port, vanilla bean, neutral oak, or cacao nibs. Those run about $80, but they are cask strength and really awesome. There were still some of them available at McScrooge's when I was there.

Not sure about Jack Gold Label. Is that no longer export/duty free? You'd probably be better off getting a single barrel of the JD Barrel Proof. They really fly under the radar but get a lot of love for their quality. Also, while it's technically MGP (Indiana) distillate, Belle Meade Reserve is really nice and easy to find in TN, but not as easy elsewhere.

This is the first mention of cumberland cask I've seen from someone who can get it. Have you seen a 14 year rye? I've been trying to research it after the ttb label approval but haven't had much luck. Sorry to hijack the thread.

I have not had the Cumberland Rye, and actually I've not heard of it until now.  I haven't had any of the Cumberland bourbons either, except for the experimental cask strength ones.

Thank you for the tips. Did not see any Cumberland anywhere.  McScrooge’s has some good stuff mostly but nothing unusual. Same with Ashe’s. Picked up a couple of Uncle Nearest and a Heaven’s Door barrel pick. Would love to find the Jack gold label somewhere.

Uncle Nearest does do picks though I don't think they are very common.

Last time we (SEC Swimming) were in Knoxville, I got these beauties at McScrooges.  Bottled in Pigeon Forge near Dollywood I was told.  Great stuff at a very reasonable price.  IIRC, we went thru a case in the week.   ?

They had lots of stuff to sample before you bougt anything.  Great folx and really good prices.   ?
