TwoFingers
I've been drinking radlers lately. Usually a mix of Yuengling and Sprite. My wife's uncle recently got me into these and said they are very common at Oktoberfest. I had never had one but he ordered them at a German restaurant in the area and I was hooked. Great in hot weather.

That is what I was told was typical in Germany. Seems fine to me. I guess it is sort of like a Shandy but I never drank those either.

Yes, I've been using Yuengling lager and found it to be very nice. I tried it with Great Lakes Dortmunder Gold and it made a great radler, just don't feel the need to use anything fancier than Yuengling. Yes, the shandy is usually made with lemonade but I was thinking more about the lemon flavor than what it is actually made with.

Great in hot weather. Radlers are fantastic! I generally just buy the Stiegl grapefruit radler, but then I drop a shot of Campari in it. The bitterness complements it quite well. I will have to make my own with Sprite sometime.
fosmith
2 oz. pour of OGD 114 with a small ice cube. Cools it down and tames the alcohol heat without losing all the flavor. Delicious!

BigSkyDrams
I have been on a gin kick in the last few summers. Over the past few years I've had bottles of Tanqueray, Tanqueray Rangpur, Hendricks, and Monkey 47, and a few craft gins I can't really recall at the moment. I alternative between G&Ts with Fever Tree tonic, and dry martinis, both of which I take in a highball glass packed with ice. Nice refreshing and easy cocktails for hot summer evenings. The Black Tot
I invented my own cocktail last month which is definitely summery. It's called the Flat D, in honor of the name of my apartment of the last 6 yrs, which I will be leaving this fall. You'll need: Ginger Ale Tonic Lemons Mint Luxardo Cherries First, make the "D Mix": 100ml fresh squeezed lemon juice 200ml gin. I use Tanqueray ten, or any gin with more kick than 80 proof. 20ml Luxardo cherry syrup. Stir. Then, prepare the glass: Spear 3 Luxardo cherries on a toothpick, leaving the sharp end sticking out the bottom of the lowest cherry. Take a large mint sprig, and spank it (clap your hands with the mint in your hands). Take the cherry toothpick and spear the lowest leaves of the mint sprig - the cherries will weigh down the mint and prevent it from floating out of the top of the drink. Place the cherry/mint combo in the bottom of a highball glass. Add ice to the top. Now, build the drink: Fill the glass to 1/3 with ginger ale. Fill the second 1/3 with D mix (stir the mix before addition). Splash in a small amount of tonic water. Top off the glass with ginger ale. I came up with this while trying to recreate a satisfying Ginger Rogers, which I had in LA about 12yrs ago. The D Mix should make you about 4-5 drinks, depending on the size of your glasses. StarSurfer55
So I usually drink corona with lime during Summer or a Kona Longboard. I have hitting the Gin and Tonics hard this Summer and I prefer The Botanist Gin. My wife enjoys a margarita or “ Make me Disappear”. If I am having a spiced rum and coke, I prefer the Bayou spiced rum which is much more vanilla forward. For a sipping rum, I usually go for the Bayou Mardi Gras XO rum. StarSurfer55
Trying this today. Swapped out gosling rum for Balcones Rumble in a Dark and Stormy. Really brings the fig out in the Rumble. I am going to call this the “Gettin’ Figgy with it!” Edited August 21, 2020 by StarSurfer55 Content
