Finally opened a 1792FP that I bought in 2017 from True Spirits in Plano, TX. They closed shortly thereafter, but I think I have some Old Forester Single Barrel from them too. Pat You mean this one? It was a very nice store and so sad to see it closed. I need to open this OF soon. I also have their 1792 "Single Barrel" store pick (with the beige neck band) somewhere deep in my bunker, but I didn't get the Full proof.

I get into my orthopedic on November 13. I anticipate that the knee will need arthroscopic surgery to clean up the meniscus. Gettin old sucks. Self medicating until Nov13 with the right medication can be tough, but it looks like you've made an excellent choice to start with. Stay pain free and safe and good luck on the recovery. GaryT
Thrilled to have gotten power restored (Tropical Storm Zeta blew through the ATL and turned out our lights Thursday morning until yesterday late afternoon, with a brief 4 hour "Just kidding!" reprieve Thurs evening). Decided to keep things simple last night with some Virgin Bourbon (NAS variety picked up in Ashville this fall). For a sub-$20 bottle, this is damn nice bourbon. Not complex, but rich caramel and vanilla with some brown sugar, cinnamon, hint of clove and pepper. Did a blind SBS with some NAS WT 101, and it held up well (didn't have a "winner", but thought this was sweeter, and had a longer finish - although I do like me the rye spice of WT 101). Always enjoy finding these gems that remind me a simple whiskey isn't a bad thing!

Jazzhead
Spent last night in a contemplative mood, listening to hours of Jerry Jeff Walker and thinking back to my college days when he was my musical hero. "They say successful men get what they want, and happy men want just what they got" Well, what I've got is a few hearty pours of OF Statesman and Belle Meade Reserve, and the music of my old gonzo compadre, Farewell, happy man.
FacePlant
After several weeks off I decided to break my well worn cherry at the bar last night with a BT run. ER then WSR. For some weird reason I was craving a Blantons but the bar has been unable to get bottles for a couple of months? huhh My guest was drinking Manhattan's with the well brand MM. I ordered him one with JD SiB and he put on a big smile. Claims to be his best Manhattan ever! Who would have guessed?

Farewell indeed to Jerry Jeff Walker, a native New Yorker. Janet Says is one of my all-time favorite songs...ever, and has been on repeat since his passing. I am reminded of the question “ What is the difference between a pharmacologist and a toxicologist? The answer is Dose! I take a blue pill every day to improve my performance! An Aleve!
Radioyada
Stagg Jr. batch 13. Good drink for a Halloween night methinks. Plus I have an extra hour to enjoy it.
DeepCover
I have a half gallon of BT that I’ve been chipping away at for quite a while. Tonight might be the night that it gets finished off, once and for all. I bought a back up on Friday for this very reason.

DeepCover
I stand corrected. I showed up to my neighbor’s with my BT. He had a Remus Volstead, so my BT took a back seat. What a great pour. The balance of sweetness and tobacco on the finish is really nice.
Jazzhead
My son and I walked the boards at Wildwood, and we stopped in Bubba;s where I took a chance on Corner Creek, which I haven't seen in years. The label now says Crestwood, Kentucky rather than Bardstown, so whether it's still KBD barrels (or ever was) will not be a question answered by me. But all in all, it's a purchase I think is a winner. I had wanted to replace my departed Basil Hayden's and this will do just fine. Old school rye grains, lower-proof, with a cling-peachy vibe rather than the vanilla of, say, a Statesman.
Mano
WR wheat whiskey. Enjoying this more than I thought I would. Kind of a one note flavor, not real complex, but tastes good , real clean, smooth finish and just the right amount of heat. Just go into it open minded. I know everything tastes like Weller to you Texas guys... It’s a bit weird at first, but the more I drank, the more I liked it.
