There is not much going on first touch, but post swallow seems to be where the essence is recognized. 
 

I can appreciate the labor that went into providing this for us. 

Spent two summers working on my uncle's farm in Ohio back in the day. The smells you mention completely resonate with me. If a bourbon can capture that? Darn cool.

Mmmmm Fantastic MGP juice. Finally have a SAOS coming to me at a reasonable price this weekend so wanted to get a jump start on the SBS.

Went to refill my decanter with a fresh bottle of Baker's when the cork disintegrated (it's an older bottling). 

 

As I don't have coffee filters, I cut the edge off a teabag, emptied the tea out, popped the teabag over the bottle and poured it through. A very British solution to cork crumble.

Long week finally winding down.  Decided to get an early start on the weekend with a little spice on the first rain of the Fall season here.......

The night cap. This is my first bottle from warehouse E. It's not CNF 6th floor good, but it's worth the paid price. This has more dry oak than the CNF barrels I've had.

Imagine if you will, for just a moment, that you left some of the tea in there.....caffeine mixed with bourbon might be something of a hidden treasure? ?

Just cracked this one. SUPER light, almost non-existent nose. A faint floral/honey note.  First sip is very sweet on the tip of the tongue and more of that floral/honey note on the mid palate. Nice coating feel. Spice comes on towards the end. Not much oak to speak of for almost 10 years but what is there shows up about 5 seconds later with some dryness finally before fading out.  Pleasant enough but still not making me want to apply for cult status.

I'm sure bourbon iced tea must be a thing over there, no? Sounds like something you lot would do! :D

I tend to prefer the K, V and F recipes.  I have found the O and Q to be quite variable.  I recall a bottle of Party Source OBSQ that was so sweet that I ended up blending it with standard OBSV so that it had more spice. I had had several bottles of other OBSQ (not Party Source) that I really liked but none were as sweet and floral forward.  It seemed to get sweeter the longer it was open.

I definitely align with you on yeast preference and yet that last two 4R picks I've done with our group we picked Q's. That's why you pick blind.

I think the most important lesson I’ve learned after tasting a decent amount of 4 Roses is not to have any preconceived notions based upon barrel stats on paper.

It is in certain parts of the south.  There is a place near historic Oakland Cemetery in Atlanta that makes a nice one.   Personally though, I like my sweet tea like I like my Coca-Cola....unadulterated.   Which is how I like my bourbon too.  Funny how that worked out.

Firefly made a decent one, but I’m not sure they still offer it.  P They partnered with Sazarac, and was made with Buffalo Trace Distilled bourbon.  Nice on ice after a day at the beach.  I ended up spiking it up with a little more BT for good measure, though.
