Arontrump55
Hey, I am Aron. Guys i am looking for a decanter and particularly i chose Bourbon Barrel Liquor Decanter. So this is my first purchase for a Liquor Decanter and i don't know much insights related to these things. I just google it and got to know about its description from an article(read). So i read that it has some pros like Has an airtight glass stopper , Leakproof but also got to know that The seal doesn't really work that well and It's very small. So i little bit confused whether its a good option in $120. I checked its reviews also which was pretty descent. Now i want your views on that and is there any other better option in this price range. Cheers
GeeTen
I use empty whiskey bottles for my decanters. Hibiki bottle for my Grandpa Weller's 4 Grain vatting, Weller Centennial bottle for Joe's 2018 Weller blend (yes, it's THAT good), etc. Emptying a bottle of 15yr Old Fitzgerald BIB for future use right now with an empty Wild Turkey "fantail" bottle and a bottle of The Macallan Rare Cask w/glass stopper on stand-by. Daughters took all of my Waterford decanters when they bought their own houses. IMHO, I'd rather spend the $$ you save by reusing attractive and distinctive bottles on good whiskey instead of pretty glass. But I'm an old geezer just trying to help others - you can choose what you want to do with your money. Edited October 30, 2020 by GeeTen
PaulO
Most labels can be removed by soaking in warm water. The only one that was impossible was Sazerac Rye. The writing is some type of glaze, baked onto the glass.
dcbt
The Blantons bottles have the easiest peel-away labels, just a little water and they fly right off without any scraping or scrubbing. They are nice decanter-ish bottles to boot.

Part of the labeling is something on the glass that doesn't come off (like the glazing on the Saz bottle). I do have 2 or 3 different decanter sets (a couple are OLD crystal ones). Not currently using any of them. This one is a used maple syrup bottle that fit this label that a co-worker gave me perfectly. I know, I know...its sacrilege and I know the history of the actual SB blend..but that label is still pretty funny.
PaulO
The small pint or half pint maple syrup bottles make a great flask.

Bret Bret
A favorite when a guest drinks a barrel proof out of it. The eye rolls are hilarious.
steven s
I use blanton's bottles w/ bowman corks for decanting 1.75's and blending experiments. feels better than the IW harper 15 bottles I used in the past.
CardsandBourbon
I have a decanter and 4 shot glasses from Woodford Reserve that my wife got me for Christmas a couple of years ago. The only other empty I have that I use as a decanter is a Towne Branch bottle. Shaped just like a decanter. That my friends was the best thing about that bottle.
