Can't say I ever went looking for Blanton's, I have not bought the 93 proof release in years, I've had a few Blanton's store picks too and none of  and they  just never meet my palate at an agreeable place. That being said, I 've never spit it out.  I do find the 103 proof Gold version to be fantastic and its been my favorite over all of the Blanton's expressions including various SFTB, Black, Green and Silver.

Now 4R Private Selections is another matter, I only ever had one I didn't care for.  Oh you roses...

BB beat me to it.

What you found out is you don't like that bottle and it's ~170-220 brothers. No more, and no less.

That said, there is a hell of a lot of incentive these days for producers to release meh single barrels. People clearly buy 'em regardless. Whether they ARE releasing meh barrels is subjective, but your tongue just told you no lies.

If you learned that not all that gallops is gold, then that's useful knowledge during a bubble.

I don't chase a bottle like Blanton's these days, but I'll come back when the bubble bursts.

I don't throw craps in Vegas, but I do buy single barrel whiskeys.

Oh TBT. This is among the many reasons we get along so well.

Yes, this.   I've had my share of Blanton's  and all of them have been varying degrees of good -- except for one.  One true 'honey barrel," (a couple years ago), several "very good," and one "bad" barrel.  Interestingly, the bad one was released within the last year.  Not a good sign.

All my recent (last 10 years worth) regular Blanton's have been very good to great!  Then again, all have been L&K picks, too.  If I get one from a bad barrel, I know who to yell at and drop the bottle to their feet  . . . .  ?

Luckily, never had had a "mediocre" bottle of Gold or SFTB, either.  ?

Yeah my only complaint about those picks is that they’re 93 proof. But that’s BT fault.

I'm completely with you on the Four Roses picks.  Love me some flowers.

It seems to me that Blanton's has hit the so cool its uncool phase.  Personally, I love Blantons and will buy all day at retail.

As Yogi Berra once said "That place is so crowded....no one goes there anymore!"
