With recent comments on wheaters going well for the holidays thought perhaps a quick topic for which whiskeys (or even whiskey cocktails) are best for this great time of year. While not a bourbon for me it’s Handy neat and it’s warmth plus cloves/cinnamon/all-spice profile.

I like the spice of a good rye during the holidays. THH is right at the top of that list. The last couple of years it’s been THH, M10, and KO.

As the starter of the wheaters during the holidays topic that's of course where I'm inclined. I do agree with you however that THH is also great this time of year for the reasons you stated.

I am versatile though! I love Stagg, 4R LESmB, and all Turkey products as well (that spice!)

The wheaters satisfy my Christmas sweet tooth. The others scratch the itch for spice, which sometimes correlate with Christmas baking spices.

It's good to be well rounded this time of year!

We always make a batch of Cane Syrup Milk Punch for Christmas morning.

recipe courtesy of Southern Living.

2 1/2 qt. milk

4 cups bourbon

2 1/2 cups heavy cream

1 cup cane syrup

1/4 cup vanilla extract

fresh ground nutmeg

whisk all together and put in freezer until ready to serve

So good - Merry Christmas to all.

Wheaters are our Christmas sugar cookies, and rye spice whiskeys like THH and 4R are our Wassail.

I enjoy them both equally.  Merry Christmas!

I pretty much like what I like year round.

I do know many others that refer to MWND as "Christmas in a bottle" though.

Evan Williams Egg Nog.

First egg nog to sell out at local abc stores.

Only thing my mostly tee totaler father-in-law will drink at christmas.  One christmas eve he was taking up whole road walking/wobbling dragging big jug to neighbor's.  I wasn't worried, I'm buds with most local officers and commonwealth attorney.

I’ve been pouring from a Stagg Jr. b15.  Christmas Eve will be a 2020 WLW with my sons.  Merry Christmas and Peace to all!

Maker’s Mark always gets the Christmas Bells a ringing for me.  Perhaps, the bright red wax gets me to thinking of Santy Claus.  The Maker’s 46, though, kicks it in to high gear with the hard candy spiciness of the FO staves.  The baking spice deliciousness of THH and Baby Saz,  as mentioned above, also really shine for me this time of year, too.  ? ?

I just opened my Act 6 Scene 2 for a little 1 oz pour, mostly just in anticipation of putting a good dent in the bottle next weekend

The red wax and gold lettering on the Makers 101 bottle tips me into Christmas Bells a ringing overdrive.

Our store bought eggnog over here is the EW, with a shot of baby saz and a light dusting of nutmeg.

Holy calories Batman! The perfect 2020 drink.

I think Wilderness Trail Rye is going to be my new Christmas tradition.

I tend to move away from bourbon this time of year.  Wild Turkey at Thanksgiving is usually that last bourbon of the year.  I gravitate toward brandies and peated scotch when the temperatures dip.

But if you're buying then I'll drink bourbon all night.  ;)

I used to say HWMWND but that’s with a caveat now, acknowledging that their products are going downhill, but I’ll still open one from a few years ago this week.

Are we talking straight MM, or any red & white additions making their way into them bottles ;)

I'm with the OP with Handy being a favorite for me this time of year, although on Christmas Day itself, I'll be pouring some WLW to celebrate virtually with my old man (lamenting that I can't be pouring HIS WLW)

Neighbors may come over on Christmas so the kids can play together... If thats the case, I have a feeling the Lot B will get opened since they want to compare it to their W12 that they love.

This year's holiday whiskey is Old Tub simply because I don't recall ever having an unfiltered Beam Bourbon.

Hey squire, if you like the Old Tub, you might want to grab a couple more. One store in my area now has it behind the counter with a limit of one. ?

Good advice Joe, I grabbed one, they had at least a half dozen bottles, but when I dropped by a couple days later all were gone and no idea when or if they would get more.

I plan to add Rare Breed Rye to the list, since one of my employees bought me a bottle. I can’t wait to crack it open actually.
