Then I forget what I read. Once I remember, boom, there's another one. The answer is no. Not everyone always uses initials. But...

I suppose it's like any other hobby, you just start using the slang terms.  For instance, I'm super into watches and half the posts on other forums I track are all abbreviations.  Even with work, all our electronics we manufacturer are all strings of abbreviated terms/characters.  Just the name of the game.
