And I appreciate your local insight!  I have never knowingly purchased bourbon that was aged in mini-barrels.  I may have had some but not on purpose.

Whatever, they are doing, they are doing it right.  The local BS SiBs get good reviews.  I can grab one for around $60 right now.  They had a couple of barrels.  I don't recall the age but it seems to be 5-6 years.  Does this coincide with the barrel type change?

What about their rye?  I find it is hard to mess up rye but I can find a lot of enjoyable ryes in the $20-30 range.  This one is about $40 regular price but I can get it for $30 right now on sale.

All of their bourbon is between 5-6 yrs old. They age in #4 char barrels made from staves that were air cured for 18 months. (Previously they were kiln dried and that led to the wet cardboard flavor). They age in Eastern Washington which has very hot summers with wild temperature swings from day to night. Winters are very cold. The only thing they have to do is pump humidity into the warehouse because the summers are dry.

The rye is very good - especially the barrel strength rye which is uncommon. My local did a barrel pick back in the day when they first started barrel picks and right now rye is not in the barrel program.

I opened a WT 101.  That was the game to watch.  Taylor = M.V.P.

Enjoying MM101 this evening.  The MM is not as robust as OWA and not as complex as W12. Nonetheless, it tastes great!  Go buy you a bottle, you will not regret the purchase!

Cheers

I finished the pour of my 2021 Weller Blend, so I decided to have another pour. I ended up having a pour of Weller CYPB. So, I unintentionally ended up doing a sbs of my blend and CYPB.  DOH!

Cutting to the chase, and in summation, the nose goes to the CYPB, but the flavor goes to my blend. Whoda’ thunk it? :o

Joining the wheater train with some '17 WLW. Though my first night of vacation was yesterday, I got home late from work due to trying to tie things up and I carried way too much stress with me and couldn't shake the feeling of being frazzled so I just kept it simple.

After a nice long day of relaxing and with a newly clear mind I was able to ponder the special shelf and was eyeing that WLW so here I am. There is only one pour left and I predict it will be gone very soon!

Well hell fellas, if I knew tonight was a wheater train, I might have chosen differently.   I went the straight rye route with THH because I was in the mood for some holiday spices.  No regrets though, I don't want to change horses in midstream now, so think I'll stick with rye for now.  WT Cornerstone is up next!

I have a feeling the train will be circling back around tomorrow so you can hop on then!

Nice music. New to me, thanks  for sharing.

There is a simile in there somewhere,  about life, in the title of the song.  😊

I have some killer barrel strength single barrel to share if you are ever out this way or if I see you at the gazebo.

Yeah, they started with mini barrels while their full size barrels aged. That stuff was NOT good. Then their early full size barrels were also not that good. However, they changed their barrel type and ever since then the whiskey has been good. I now know one of the distillers and he filled me in on their evolution and I appreciated his transparency.

Interesting.   I first encountered Woodinville as a five-year old,  and although I'm older now I thought from the start that it was one of my favorite craft bourbons.    I've currently got open a single barrel cask striength  and their regular 90-ish proof bourbon finished in port casks.

HH 6 90 tonight. Wish it was the 6 yr BiB white label. Any HH 110 proofs I can mix to get to 100?

Who would think they would win a game where Wentz throws 12 passes for 57 yards?  Despite the Indy-NE rivalry, I actually like the Patriots because I like good fundamental football.  They built their winning streak on being physical.   Everyone knew the Patriots would focus on stopping the ground game. But, they couldn't.  It was a physical game.

Other than the game-icing TD, my favorite play was Taylor clocking a pass rusher who came through the line clean.  That block and the block he threw on the Hines touchdown tells you all you need to know about him as a player and teammate.  I agree.  He is easily the MVP.

Now, back to your regularly scheduled bourbon drinking.

The Wheater Train runs every night in the StraightBourbon.Com universe.  Sometimes we know about it, other times we don't.  Sometimes we don't ride on the train together, other times we do.  The times we do are always more enjoyable.

It's been awhile since I heard Pat Metheny.  I have never seen him live but I remember when he played the Vogue and Clowes Hall.
