Memorial Day

I posted this in another forum but thought it relevant to post in the general bourbon discussion forum since the sacrifices made allow the freedoms we enjoy.

 

This weekend we remember those who made the ultimate sacrifice in the giving of their life to preserve the freedom we enjoy. You have earned our respect and we honor you for you truly are an "American who has done a great thing."

 

Our debt cannot never be fully repaid but you have earned our gratitude and we will never forget your sacrifice [paraphrased, President Harry S. Truman].

 

Today while shopping at Lowe's which is about as American as it gets, I noted they had set aside a parking space in their "veteran" parking area surrounding it with flowers and flags with the entire parking space covered by a cross. The hero who didn't return is remembered for their sacrifice. 

 

Enjoy a pour of your favorite adult beverage this weekend and be mindful this Memorial Day weekend. It is about more than car races, baseball games, and cookouts.
