Sipping on some ETL after spending the afternoon and evening tearing down my John Deere lawn tractor and making a parts list. This is not going to be pretty.  The #1 item on the list is a new transmission.  I had a gear failure and it blew a hole in the box.  Dang thing only has about 600 hours on it.  Of well, I know what I will be doing for a week or so.

That's unfortunate.  That would never happen with a Wheel Horse Unidrive transmission.  Best lawn/garden tractor ever made.

This one.  Typical example.

A (comparative for moi) oldie but no doubt goodie.  Thanks for the pic, curiosity was bouncing about like a monkey on cocaine.

Tried a new bourbon tonight.  It was not worth the price of admission which admittedly wasn't much.  The bourbon in question was New Holland Beer Barrel 100 proof. YMMV

I've been sipping my 2 new bottles - FEW 4 - year and Eagle Rare 10 - year.   They are far more similar than different,   going for that coppery, grain forward thing like 4R,   with little of the vanilla/leather bag of OFWT and Barton.   Both are nice pours to some oily Slide Hampton trombone.

Some more 1792 small batch for me this evening.  Quite fond of this one. Apparently whisky is good for a sinus infection 😂

As the name of the thread says summer 2022....a useless piece of info..... I was always led to believe that Autumn started in August.  Apparently its a Gaelic calendar thing.

@BigRich Sorry I'm just now seeing your post. Looks like that combo made for a nice Friday afternoon! What batch of MHC do you have there? I'll be blending a new batch of it here in a few weeks. 😉🥃

I'm more of a Simplicity kinda guy, but I feel your pain. My last two tractors have been second hand, both under $500 purchases. I have been to the dealerships to Looky Lou at zero turns, and I just can't pry the $3,000 from my cold, dead wallet. On the plus side, I may be able to get a part time job fixing orange lawn mowers when I retire.

Oh, yeah. We were talking about whiskey. Travel size Maker's Mark at the inlaws tonight. So technically, I am still off topic, as I enjoyed whisky.

Started with a pour of BT. Next up was a healthy pour of my 2021 Weller Blend. It’s only Thursday. <_<

Nothing going on tomorrow, I’m up late, and my palate seems to be doing better. I said to myself what the hey, and decided to open a recently purchased FRSB and have a pour. Hmmm. Something wasn’t quite right. 🤔 As I popped  the cork, I realized there was no leather neck tag. WTF?   FWIW, this did not affect the taste. 😛

Nancy, I would love to tell you but it didn't last the weekend.  And then my recycle bottle drop off was right after.  I gave a sample to @GaryT and I think i put the batch number on his bottle.  Gary?

A friend of mine likes 80 to 90 proof sweeter Scotches (recommendations welcome).  He's also willing to try other whiskeys.  So I always bring a (for him) experiment and a fall back.  He was surprised at the proof of the Dry Fly in light of how sweet & smooth it was.  And enjoyed the Scotch as well.  Success.

If Weller is your feller but ain't in your cellar because in a no-allocation state you're a dweller,  then here are two splendid alternatives.

I went in search of another Old Elk Straight Wheat because I knew the beach bottle was terminal.  Met failure but scored the next best thing with this Crown Royal Winter Wheat special.    These are being sipped side by side accompanied by an ocean breeze, and represent pineapple/peach overload!

Gosh , what a life of luxury.

Earlier I finished off a Jefferson's Reserve store pick bottle from a trip to the motherland 5 years ago.

Now I'm sipping on a RR SiB pick, rickhouse E.   I just love RRSiB.   The finish on this one is just going on forever.

One thing in the 2022 bourbon world is for certain, and it's that Mr. Eddie R  knows what the heck he's doing.

While you're at it Nancy, you can just go ahead and blend up a new batch for me.  Check's in the mail 😜
