Worked all day trying to clean and organize the garage.  It actually looks…worse…😫. Perhaps a couple OWAs will help things begin to look better in a bit…🤪

I’ve been out of makers mark 101 for a while. Was in Houston yesterday and found a couple of bottles. I’m already into one and loving it.

Traveling through Western Michigan on vacation.  Stopped in the Coppercraft Distillery Tasting Room in Saugatuck.  Even though, they have apparently been in business for 10 years,  all of the bourbons and rye were MGP.

I have seen the standard fare in Indy and they all right. Given they are 4 to 5 year old MGP, they would be great in a $20 to $25 price range. Most are generally around $35.

I did try Fox and Oden which is their blend of 8 to 15 year old straight bourbons. It was really good. Since it is blended at the same place as Joseph Mangus, I am curious how it compares. The price was comparable. I passed on buying a bottle at the Tasting Room which might have been a mistake since it not as readily available as Coppercraft.

Started with BT, and now am on to a glass of ER Single Barrel Select while watching the Mets Rockies game. I opened this bottle on Opening Day (starting to become somewhat of a tradition now, opening an ER on Opening Day of baseball). The bottle is dangerously close to being finished, but I'm hoping to save the last pour for the day every Mets fan roots for.

Took the wife to our new favorite neighborhood sushi place for dinner.  Now back home and poured myself a Larceny BP over a big cube.  It's nice.

Personally I'd take a messy garage and a bottle of dusty OWA over the alternative.  But to each their own, lol.

You're killin' me Joe.

That used to be a regular pour for me, then one day they all vanished.  It was such a surprise, I didn't even get to save an empty bottle as a souvenir.

They have changed the package twice since then.

Nothing was better than that original label above.

Surely there were ample warnings here on SB?

Booker's in the glass over a 2 inch cube.  "Off your rocker" batch, which is typical middle of the road Booker's.  Nothing extraordinary here, but a very nice and flavorful $55 bourbon.

Notice I quoted the price I paid for this when it was released.  Yes it's a very flavorful barrel proof 6-7 year bourbon.  No, it's absolutely not worth collecting *each and every* batch -- at today's $90 price.

The proverbial horse had already left the barn at that point.  Yeah, people did talk about their experiences finding or not finding.  Here in Indiana, it was like the stores that carried it wouldn't always have it in stock, but would get more.  The absences grew longer.  After the fact, I knew it was in the pipeline.  One day the new ones showed up with no age statement.  Then it changed to where I have never seen the most recent version in person, only photos.

That's unfortunate.  That would never happen with a Wheel Horse Unidrive transmission.  Best lawn/garden tractor ever made.

I can attest to the Wheel Horse garden tractor’s reliability. I have one that was made in the 60’s and it still will mow the yard. The tractor has cast iron all over it, from the front axle to the rack and pinion steering mechanism to the transaxle case. All of this mated to an angle iron steel frame. Built to last.

Back on subject, I’m enjoying a little W.B. Saffell in my glass.  Much Like the Wheel Horse, Wild Turkey Bourbon is well constructed.  😏

Cheers.

That sucks.  This was before my time drinking the better stuff.  My first distillery tour was 2007 or 2008 but it wasn't until about five years later that I really started really educating myself on the details of premium bourbon and by then it was practically too late for that version of Weller.

After a really great day, regular old BT is in the glass. It’s really been hitting the spot quite nicely for me lately. 🦬

trying to figure out the 2 Old Elk bottles I recently got. My first of Old Elk. They were both opened and sampled initially a few days ago.

Tonight was round 2:

The straight wheat whiskey picked by Carl's Tavern at 6 years and 116 proof is decent. There's a nice sweet ending, but a slight funk on the palate. Anxious to see how and if this one changes over time. $79. Ouch.

The standard wheated bourbon at 96p (I think). It's not bad. Less sweet, a little more funk. $49.

Didn't want to compare them  to MM101 or WSR until they were open for a bit.

Any intel on JM portion of the operation?  Do they happen to sell JMCB at the distillery?  Inquiring minds....

I've been nursing this one for a while.  Gonna need serious support & therapy once it's gone.  Soooo good.

They haven't had the John J. Bowman around the Baltimore metro area in a long time.  We hit the distillery,  and and cracked one of these as soon as we walked through the door😉🤣

EW SiB 2013 still isn't doing it for me.  Granted, it's not a fair comparison after the 16y Three Chord.

Still...meh.

Gonna dump it and try something else before the week (and its much lighter pours) starts in 7 hours.
