Had my first pour of EC Toasted Barrel at a weeding last weekend.  I was already holding up the line enough explaining I wanted that rather than the small batch, I just bit the bullet when it rang up as an $18 pour of EC18.  Great pour, but nothing like I expected.

Well, enough of you mentioned the JDSBBP's that I picked up a few via #1 Daughter.  So trying the whiskey tonight and the rye on another evening.

Curiosity and palate sated.

It does have a wee kick to it!

Great choice!

I drink it over a large cube.

The JDSBBP is amazing as it evolves while the ice melts.

I'm doing this a little back-asswords tonight by capping off the night with this one, after a couple pours of Willett Rye.

Drinking a nipple of Russel's Reserve 10 year.

I like this.

I don't remember enjoying it so much last time but this is nice.

Exactly what I did, probably got it down to 90 - 95 proof before I removed the cube; that really let the flavor come through.  Thankfully did not spill any of it on cars, furniture, etc. beforehand.  I did enjoy it.  You guys rarely steer me wrong.

If you haven't tried it, check out the 94 proof JD SiB.  It's a pretty tasty pour without the burn of the barrel proof version.

I started last night with a pour of MM. Ended with a pour of MM 101. 😊 I finished a 750 ml of MM, then replenished it from my “family sized” bottle. ^_^

Nancy, I would love to tell you but it didn't last the weekend.  And then my recycle bottle drop off was right after.  I gave a sample to @GaryT and I think i put the batch number on his bottle.  Gary?

Sorry, hadn't been on in a while, and unfortunately those samples are packed in a box . . . somewhere.  Will try to circle back after the move is complete :)

So I'm loosening up.  I have hit and maintained vanity (and oh yeah, health) goals on weight.  So 2 oz on weekdays circa 4 pm is now acceptable.  Still working at that hour, but on silly & easy stuff like email.

Not quite "there" on KC12.  Some of the KC9 store picks really hit the spot more than did the KC12.  Granted, I prefer "sweet" over "oaky/tannic/bitter as Hillary in 2016/Trump in 2020/2021/2022".  The KC9 store picks from people who know more than I do (a rather large universe at present) were (for KC) sweeter, especially on the finish, which caters to my personal preferences.  My small sample size of KC12 (2 2 oz on 2 separate occasions, today being the second) varied from "leathery" to "wow, that's a bit much oak at the end".  I wonder how I'll feel about the KC15.

Of course more samples are needed ("science").  And vanity (I mean "health") interferes with proper sample sizes, at least in the short term.  So this'll be a slow process.

In happier news, I am a cheap date.  Two ounces go a long way!

I bought this awhile back per the recommendation of the gal at the liquor store. I have to say I was pleasantly surprised and now it is part of my rotation.  and the price is right too.  I am no expert on the tasting notes but it is close/ similar to KC 9

Starting with an Old Charter Proprietor’s Reserve “Slope Shoulder”, tonight.  The chewy leather and Goetze’s Caramel Cream notes are wonderful.

FRSB, where have you been all my life?!  I opened this bottle tonight as my introduction to Four Roses bourbon, and I have to tell you it fits my palate very nicely.  As I understand it, the single barrels are all OBSV.  Is that correct?  If so, and this means the mashbill is only 60 percent corn, where is all this lovely dark, rich, sweetness coming from?

From my reading I have gathered that the good folks at FR describe the OESO recipe as being vanilla and dark fruit forward. Now my question for all of you who are in the know: which FR bottles feature this recipe?  I think I may want to try that next .

I’m gonna guess that you have regular Four Roses up your way @Thomm. You might want to give it a try and see what you think. Yeah, it’s only 80 proof, but it’s not bad. The price is pretty decent, and it’s makes for a great freezer bottle too. 👍

Yes, it is plentiful. I will definitely get a bottle. I am not at all opposed to lower proofs, and last night's moment of "enlightenment" reinforced that. The stuff tasted so good that I overindulged a bit and woke up with a headache. 20 fewer proof points on my morning after sounds pretty good right now.

To get a bottle featuring OESO, I believe you are going to have to track down an OESO single barrel cask strength store pick.  I don't think any of 4R regular lines feature this recipe.
