Of course, retirees can drink a little later in the evening than those of us who have to work.

Retiree Work Schedule - 6 days a week are Saturday and one day a week is Sunday.  Rest?  Whenever, I feel like it.  Truth, I am working harder than when I worked.  It is just that I control the schedule.

Thank goodness I get to sleep in. 😴

Speaking of sleeping...at it a bit late this am because we were at it a bit late last pm.

Had a friend over, he muled 8 bottles from K&L in the Bay Area.  So a friend indeed.

We tried:

1) Dry Fly 9y wheated

2) ECBP C921

3) Barrell #32

4) JMCB

5) RRSiB TW

6) AE Rye

Fun time.

That certainly is an eclectic mix.

Did you drink them, in that order?   My palate would've been shot by the time I got to #4 😅

Yup, in that order.  You called the number.  The first three were planned (for loose definitions of that word).

Dry Fly because we had a very good night months ago with an entire bottle of it (the normal version, not the 9 year).  Memories, friendship & conversation twice over.  In vino veritas, and in whiskey TMI.

The ECBP because I'm loving those a lot and wanted him to try it before anyone got blitzed (he loved it too, with no prompting or hints).

And the Barrell because he brought it from CA, I was really curious to try it, and he figured that he would too since he lugged it.

So some rhyme if not much reason.

Then dinner and an hour's interlude with much hydration.

The next three were....not planned.  We were there (well, physically).  He wanted more.  I am a good host, mostly.  He wanted to try things that were "different".  So we did.  He wanted a sweet, finished barrel, so the JMCB, which for me is the finished bourbon.  I suggested a contrast with something a bit more spicy, hence the RR.  He wanted to see the difference between a finished bourbon and a finished rye, so the AE.  That was our, umm, "logic" in those later hours.

It was spread over five hours, which helped some.

KC 12 yr for me this evening, I do believe it could be the only bourbon  I need.

Most of you guys have been enjoying bourbon much longer that myself..  I have not tasted any of the greats like a lot you folks.

I have only had 2 from the Weller group and really  like the W107.  With all the different bottles I have tried The KC 12 yr just hits all the right notes for me.

Enjoy the evening !!

GW4G straight from the fridge after a tough day/nite at the polls for our State Primary as a Warden.  Hard to find good help these days.  Might just have another - yeah, that's the ticket!!!   🥳

I can see it. KC12 very quickly rocketed to the top of my favorites.

Bouncing around a few short pours of different bourbons, and plain ol’ Maker’s Mark has dominated this day.

Poured some WT101.  I'm thinking this would be on my short list of bourbons for a desert island.  I don't think that is an uncommon position around these parts.

I got together with a couple of guys from our local bourbon/cigar group at my American Legion Post this evening. We had MM, MM 46, KC, a ps Weller SR from a @Vosgar sample bottle, and an unidentified pour from a flask. My friend couldn’t remember what was in it. 🤔  Hey, it was okay. 😝

I've never heard of a turkey referred to as a timber chicken before.  Thanks for starting my day with a laugh!
