Cut short because my dog ran up on a 4 foot rattlesnake sunning itself in the western sun. Woke it up with her snout, caused the snake to recoil into striking position (that gave them space), and thankfully, my dog listened to me and backed away. so, went with a heavier beer to start the weekend. Gigantic Brewing out of PDX. Got this pineapple, tropical thing going on! Yikes, that is too close. I’m glad your companion is ok. ive never seen this beer, sounds interesting. flahute
Back in May when I went to the Miami Grand Prix the beer of choice was Heineken. Ever since then it's had a special place in my refrigerator next to the Asahi Dry. Enjoyed one after a warm and humid hike.
smokinjoe
Got this in a variety pack of Wicked Weed IPAs. Kinda liking it. The mango while very noticeable on the nose is subtle on my palate. It works well with the hoppiness of the beer, and gives it a very tropical character.

MM818
A pretty robust helles lager with a touch of malt and heavy mouthfeel. Low ABV. It’s dang good. Dutchess Ales out of St Louis. Does InBev know?

fishnbowljoe
it was a nice evening on the deck at the Legion with @JerseyDon. Trying to be good with Miller 64. Bourbon did come in to play later.

smokinjoe
Whoopsie-Daisy! I posted this in the 2023 beer thread by accident. Should be 2024. I’ve pretty much posted the same post for a decade… After a period of great anticipation, September 1 has arrived, and hence, so has my Oktoberfest beer drinking season! As always, I am leading off with my perennial favorite, Sam Adams Octoberfest. https://cdn.jsdelivr.net/gh/twitter/twemoji@14.0.2/assets/72x72/1f60b.png

As I have said before, I stockpile all varieties of Oktoberfest bier, during the fall to get me through till the following late spring. I load up on Sam Adams by the cases. It is always good and always reliable. Cheers
smokinjoe
Though, I vowed to pressure wash the back patio today, I have decided to break that vow of labor and front porch sit with beer, instead. Sierra Nevada’s Oktoberfest Festbier to start. Totally different animal than yesterday’s Sam Adams. More bitterness, and not as much mouthfeel. These terms are not meant to be pejorative in the least. It’s very good. Quaffable and nice while the Jawjuh weather is still hot. MM818
Reasons unbeknownst to me I haven’t been bringing home Radiant Brewing recently. Great Pilsner here with some hop to it. Went down way too fast.
smokinjoe
Monday Night Brewing Oktoberfest. Creamy and with a nice maltiness. A resemblance to SA. Solid effort from one of the local guys.

MM818
As soon as the top was popped on this one I could smell the Santa Rosa taproom. Enjoying from the safety of my kitchen. It’s 105 degrees outside. We are in the middle of a heatwave that we haven’t seen in years.
MM818
Maybe I carried those sand traps. Maybe I didn’t. But that Gigantic Brewing IPA was delicious. A weekend kickstarter toward the end of the round.

Almost saved par but slid it by the hole. No goose logs on the green!
