Personally, I find this one better the more fresh it is, but I'm probably in the minority on that. I love it too and while I enjoy it fresh, the flavor evolves beautifully as each year goes by. I think that 2 years is the sweet-spot. It's the point where the sharpness of the hops has softened, but it's more in the background and it's very balanced. This one is ~ 4 years old and the hops are very muted and the beer is sweeter at this stage. I'll keep buying and aging them, but I won't let them much longer than 2 years.

As part of my first trip to Europe, I also happened to stay in Munich and went out with a couple I met who attended the same wedding I did. They took me to the main Hoff Brau Haus in the town center. What a Frenzy! I don't know how the servers were able to keep up with things, but they did. It was the 3rd-4th week of September so "Oktoberfest" might have been going on. They (the couple) ordered me a beer I didn't recognize, but it looked like "Coca-Cola." I took a sip to taste it, and didn't take another. I mentioned, "It reminds me of bock beer." My host replied, "Double Bock!" The greatest issue being, it was not cold, but "ambient temperature." I had never had "warm beer" before, and never again. Sorry... no "Guinness Stout" for me. smokinjoe
Listed as twice the malt, twice the hops, as their Rye Pale Ale, this 9% heavy beauty is great after a looooong 4 day week. On the run, throughout. I think this beer would pair well with a nice Maduro, but it will be gone before I light that one up…. Nice effort here, by Terrapin. Skinsfan1311
I haven't had one of these in forever. I'm not a big fan of Belgians, but our son left a couple in the fridge, and told me to drink 'em. I broke our only tulip glass, so this one had to do. Again, I'm not a fan of the style, but I like this. It's a very good sipping beer. Edited June 8, 2024 by Skinsfan1311
MM818
I’ve taken a hiatus from beer after a few too many on a night out in March. I’ve been slowly coming back. This is a nice tropical fruit beer out of Florida. Paired well with a little Alton Brown “ring of fire” chicken I like to make from time to time. Kepler
Earlier this evening I had a Saint Arnold "Banger IPA" which was pretty good. It was 8.4% abv so that's all I needed.
Skinsfan1311
Peroni Nastro Azzurro. Not much of a beer drinker anymore, but this is perfect weather for it. I was a Navy Brat and Dad was stationed in Naples, Italy. My friends and I drank it because it was cheap and we called it "Nasty Azzuro" I pick up a sixer, or two, in the summer, for the nostalgia, and it's very tasty.

I've been on a lager kick and it's the season but I'm currently trying to finish a bunch of Treehouse IPAs before they go stale.

I used to drink a lot of beer, but rarely drink, or buy it now. Odds are that it will expire, before I can finish it. I'll order a beer, or two, with dinner. Kepler
Next up the Colimita lager. I think I like it even better than the A.M. Sirena. It's got a nice suble creaminess, unusual for a cerveza.

smokinjoe
I’m such a sucker for LE beers with an American or sports theme. Bud does a good job. This one supports Folds of Honor. Hydrating with this out front after spending the last hour in the attic putting some full boxes away. It must have been 130 up there, and I lost some fluids… AKA, sweated my nads off…

They do this pretty much yearly. Typically, in the Summer around Memorial Day, or Independence Day. Weirdly, for some reason I enjoy Big Beer out of Aluminum “bottles” even more than glass bottles…But, I do like the presentation!

b1gcountry
I had a Miller lite today at a benefit for my cousin...I liked it enough that I just ordered a tequila off the paid menu...

One good aspect is the screw cap. After a swing, you put the cap back on. No science to back this, but it seems that the beer stays colder longer. I dunno?

Harry in WashDC
Wash Post Food section had a taste test of readily available non-alcohol beers a couple weeks ago. I’ve not been a fan, but . . . Heineken 0.0 came out tops. Testers included food critics, sports page writers (who had some of the best descriptive terms in their write ups), and one non-drinker who used to drink to excess all the time. Curious because I’d found two German N/As I liked but they’re hard to find, I bought one H 0.0 at the local grocer. I then tried a SBS with the original. It was hard if not impossible for me to tell which was which absent the follow-on buzz which takes a couple bottles for me. That’s never happened with me, not even with those Germans. Some persons are not enamored with H (too thin, too rice vs. wheat notes, etc.). I’ve been a take or leave for years, but I bought a six pack of the 0.0 to keep handy for days when I am hot and thirsty AND must drive someplace. It is Summer so they won’t be wasted. My solution has been ice cold seltzer water (not the kind with alcohol) keeps me from drinking soft drinks or beer. I don't need the calories. I think artificial sweeteners taste horrible.
smokinjoe
Front patio sittin’ on the swing in the shade. Sierra Nevada Hop Bullet Imperial IPA. At 9.5%, this may induce front patio nappin’ on the swing in the shade…
