I know. Same here @Skinsfan1311. Funny thing…. I suffer from the “if it’s there” syndrome. Over the last year or so, allocated items have been showing up with a little more regularity. So, if it’s there and at or near msrp, I’ll bite.  Weller Whore that I am, I currently have more bottles of Blanton’s than I do Weller SR. 🫨 Weller SR: 1 open and 3 in the cabinet. Blanton’s: 1 open and 4 in the bunker. Oh, and one Blanton’s Gold too.

Also and FWIW, I just got a Binny’s email. They have MM 1.75’s on sale for $37.99. Plus for another 1¢ you can get a jar of peanuts too. 🤦🏻‍♂️

😅

It's crazy how that works, isn't it?

Never been much of a Blanton's fan, (but I've only ever had the standard stuff), but back in the day Weller and BT were a couple of  my go-to's mainly because they were so cheap, plentiful and good.     I'd bring them to parties, gatherings, whatever to share with everyone and leave the bottles.   I did the same with McKenna 10 year.

Too bad that ship sailed....

I swore no more bottles after my last big haul from TX but I got a text from a store owner friend that his Knob Creek store pick arrived this week.  Had to run by and pick it up, as the KC SB reserve 120 proof is one of my favorite daily drivers.

While I was in there he offered me a Widow Jane 20 yr Black Opal for $400.  I hate WJ stuff so easiest decline of my life.

I passed it at $7500 today myself!  Yours was a bargain compared to mine.

Lots of shelf turds that don't seem to be moving.  Just about everything Rabbit Hole, ECBP store picks, Baker's High Rye, MM46 CS store picks.  These don't seem to be moving at any of the stores I visit.  While there are several others that don't seem to be moving, of the 4 mentioned, MM46 CS store picks used to move quickly.  While other bottles have increased in price, the price of MM46 CS store picks has remained the same over the last 5 years.  Maybe buyers are just tired of the various iterations and not longer see uniqueness or value.

I have thought about writing my intials in the dust on the bottles and coming back in a week to see if they are still there.  Unfortunately, the manager at one of the stores carries a feather duster in is back pocket and regularly dusts off bottles.

I am also passing on the current holiday gift sets.  Of course, I haven't seen the HH7 set others have posted about.

I see the same things in my neck of the woods.

MM PS store picks in particular have been very over-exposed for a few years here ... there are simply way too many different variations available at every store that has a decent bourbon selection.  Some stores are putting specific MMPS barrels "on sale" here for twenty bucks off, sporadically, presumably to reduce inventory of particular barrel picks that they are overstocked on.

Of all those, the stand out for crazy price is ETL $200.  🤪  The MSRP is like $39.  Even at that, it's still a bit of a reach for some no age statement 90 proof mild mannered juice.

The other stuff, not unusual prices, maybe a little high on the first three.

I like the Baker's High Rye much more than regular Baker's bourbon.  Picked one up about 2 months ago and went back to get a backup recently and they were gone...

Even in my current trying not to buy mode I’d have been tempted by this. Assume it’s the recent cask strength release?

Yup, CS. I liked the 10 so much that I snapped up 2 11's when I saw. Haven't opened one yet.

That JDSBBP would've made its way into my cart for that price.

Sounds like an easy pass.....

passed up an Old Forester barrel strength store pick at $95. I just wasn't wanting to spend that much on a bottle of it without getting to sample it first. It's is a nice feeling to not have fomo over a bottle and just walk away from it.

Good job -- I pass on these at anything near that price as well.  The Old Forester BP bottles are NAS, and due to OF's heat cycling warehouses, probably no more than 6 years old max (if that even; OF might even be only 5 year old whiskey).  It's high time that Old Forester put an age statement on these high-priced premium single barrel offerings.  Until they do, I'll keep buying the OF1920 instead at 115 proof.
