Whiskey House of Kentucky Update

Created a new thread as Whiskey House of Kentucky now has an updated website where you can see the current construction status of their distillery and read about their plans for it.  This is a massive project that I just happen to live less than a mile from.  Thus I have watched it grow from the beginning, and have occasionally bumped into their executive team in and around Elizabethtown.  Here is the link to current website:  https://whiskeyhouse.com

Very interesting.

Curious.. why did they go with whiskey in the name  and not bourbon? Are any of the owners and officers kentuckians?

Perusing their website and reading what their business model is, it seems to me that bourbon would be just one of a number of variables of whiskies that they will offer.  Using bourbon in the name could unnecessarily pigeon hole their branding.

Remember, these are the folks who created and made successful Bardstown Bourbon Company.  No doubt they are using their knowledge from their BBC experience to shape how they want to create and develop WHKY.

I’ll say that their website’s messaging of what they’re about and their business intentions reads like a manual for private label plasticizers or industrial lubricants…😩Not much interest in the spiritual allure of the spirit, it seems.  And, the poor fitting hard hats on everybody?  Oh baby!!  🤣🤣🤣

Well, they do prominently promote their "Custom Whiskey" capabilities  and promise to work with customers to provide them with the best designer whiskeys.  That reads like they want to compete with MGP and some of the other distiller/producers that sell primarily to NDPs.  While researching a few new brands and producers, I stumbled upon a couple of these, one in Ohio, for example. that apparently sells to Horse Soldier bourbon which I think used to get its distillate from a distiller/producer in Florida.  This is NOT really a criticism; I happen to like HSB.  The HS blender knows his/her stuff IMO.

At one time Horse Soldier Bourbon was supposed to be building a new distillery in Somerset, Kentucky, on the banks of the Cumberland River (where some of the team associated with HSB were training as members of SOF at the time the World Trade Center was attacked).  I am not sure of the status of the project at this time.  As for Whiskey House, talking with their main man one day in Elizabethtown they do not, at least initially, plan to make anything under their own label.  It will be all custom distilling.  No restaurant, no visitors center or anything else for visitors at the distillery.  They may have a site in Elizabethtown proper that will showcase what they make for other brands.
