I’ll get around to opening the others sooner or later. My kids didn't even wish me Happy Father's Day and I didn't even get a coffee mug. But, I still love them. I had to buy my own lunch and dinner on Father's Day. I am going to bust their balls forever.

Loved the wood boxes in the background - especially the one with the belted leather straps! I have one (1) opened and one (1) left on deck. Japanese WT12yr looks fantastic as well. Great stuff!!!

How is that one? My wife brought back a bottle from Japan a while back. I snoozed on opening it and now it's on her "souivenir" shelf.
Davesnothere
We opened the EC 524 and my first impression is that it's not my favorite. In fact it's probably my least favorite EC in a few years, and I say that as an EC fan boy. I'm not good with tasting notes, but I know what I like. It's a bit ethanol forward, the mouth feel is nice, but the finish to me is not so much oaky as sour. Mind you, it's in no way a bad bourbon, I'm just comparing it to the last few releases which I thought were fantastic. If someone gave me a pour, I would gladly finish it. I'll certainly have a few more pours in the coming weeks and see how it fares, perhaps it was the chorizo tacos I had for lunch

MyBrainOnWhiskey
Tonight I opened a recently-purchased bottle of Chattanooga BiB. It's a brand that is new to me, but I'm glad our paths have crossed. 1st pour is yummy . The high malt content comes through on the nose and on the palate, and it's an element of the overall profile that I enjoy. Based on info posted to the company's web site it looks like they change the formula of the BiB from release to release, which is pretty cool. This Fall 2019 bottle features a lot of "toast" (about 64% of the total blend). Does that put it in the "double oaked" category? I assume not; however, my knowledge of the rules/requirements to be designated as a "double oaked" product is lacking. Whatever the proper designation, it tastes darn good and it's quite interesting! I look forward to digging into this bottle and will purchase more Chattanooga products. Mash Bill: 46% SB091 + toast, 18% SB091, 9% B005 + toast, 9% B005, 9% SB055 + toast, 9% SB055 (reference: https://chattanoogawhiskey.com/product/bib-fall-2019/) Edited June 30, 2024 by MyBrainOnWhiskey
Kepler
It's summertime and I'm watching some baseball so it's time for my favorite Baseball Bourbon. Roasted peanuts in a glass

MyBrainOnWhiskey
It's been years since I've had OGD114. I opened the bottle as soon as I got home, poured a small amount, and I must have nosed it for 20 minutes before taking a sip. On the palate it's youthful and a bit rambunctious, but the overall experience is wonderful. Very nice mouthfeel, a medium to long finish. At $32 per 750ml, it's a winner!

OGD114 is a winner all right! I just heard a new rumor that it will be discontinued in the not too distant future. I know this rumor seems to pop up every few years but I bought a few bottles for the bunker just in case...
JakeySnakes
Opened a couple bottles this past week while on vacation with family. I brought a bottle of Blanton's to share, and my brother brought a bottle of Green River. First time having Green River, and I was pleasantly surprised! Ended up bringing both bottles home with me to finish off.

fishnbowljoe
It was a different day today. A longtime neighbor that lived across the street from us passed away back in March. Today was her celebration of life. I opened up a Blanton’s and had a few pours this evening. She always had a smile and or a wave no matter what. I’ve really missed that. Cheers Margie.

Kepler
I finally opened a Madeira finished HW American Prairie store pick bottle that's been hanging around in my bunker for years unopened. I've never tasted a Madeira finished whiskey before. At first taste I was thinking the finishing is too strong and overpowering for my taste, but after I've let it sit in the glass a little while it has calmed down. Now it's pretty good and I think I will enjoy this bottle over time. But like a lot of HW finished whiskies (e.g. Midwinter Night's Dram) a little bit goes a long way. One 2 ounce pour should do me.
