Second up: OGD16.

I did not care for it at the Beam tasting...but again that was fleeting.

I liked it far more today. 2 years ago I'd have found it much too oakey. Now...I think they got it right and separated it from the barrel just in time. I think the high-rye threw me off, that's still a taste that is growing on me. Very pleased with the bottle, I think I'll snag another one or two. Still processing it all, I just know that on a nice Sunday and given some time to sip & savor, it hit the spot.

These different bottles do reflect that there's a lot that I like. A good many pours seem to be a "mood" thing for me. I can see this one falling into that category.

In addition to the higher rye content they use a different yeast on this than the standard Beam yeast so that also contributes to how different it is.

We picked up a couple EHT single barrels today at Port Royal liquors in Spring Hill TN today. We opened one as soon as we got home. Almost no ethanol up front, it's a vanilla, carmel fruit bomb. It's very good.

opened this up after work last night. It's quite good and drinks less than it's 106pf. Plan to revisit it in a week or two and see if it opened up any and got even better.

Had a special occasion today so decided to open a special bottle.   I haven't had this for a looong time.  It was as good as I remembered.    One of the best labels ever.

And distilled in Louisville no doubt.  I'm in awe.  You must have been holding on to that a long time.  🤩

Congrats on the special occasion and what a great way to celebrate it.  I remember that being a very complex enjoyable pour.  CHEERS!!

Picked this up while driving through KY today.

Just got home, so what the heck.

Wow.

lots of dark chocolate covered cherry.

Reminds me of what 1920 used to be when it first released.

Excellent pour!

Yes it's very good.  So well balanced for a finished bourbon.  The sherry is just the way I like it in a bourbon-- very subtle.   One of Eddie's finest.

We had some family over for a post Thanksgiving get together.

Much bourbon was enjoyed, but this was the only fresh crack today.

I was in the mood for a sweet dram tonight. I opened a Woodford double oaked that I have had for quite a while. It is doing the job nicely. 😉
