To follow up with my cigar and the 17WLW (that's where Rich got his idea) I'll tip my hat to Steve with the 17KING! :) :) :)

I have some 2014 and some 2018 on hand.  Being a selfish SOB, I've only offered tastes of each to persons I KNOW hate bourbon.  Yes, I do feel a little guilty  but not enough to get me to change my ways.😆

I can see the conversation.  Gee, I am not much of a bourbon drinker Harry and that proof looks crazy high.  I will take a pour with Diet Coke on the rocks.  Thanks Buddy.  😀  Uhm, it is still too strong.  Can I have something else?  I have heard Blanton's is good.  Rinse and repeat.  Hey, what about Pappy?  Maybe I will like that.  😀

Truth be told, I have given some small ML bottles of my GTS to persons I KNOW would appreciate them.  But, as you noted, for persons who have no idea what they drinking, I do pour EWB (86 PROOF) in both their mixed drink AND in a neat 2 ounce pour - taste and compare.  Most of the persons who try this are surprised at how much the EW brings to a basic cocktail and how good bourbon can be all by itself.

IW Harper 15 last night. Sweet & lite. Diet bourbon?

Also had a sip from the first WTRB bottle I ever tried. This is one that popped a cork in the car on our first trip on the bourbon trail, August 2022. If you're hot, they're hot too! Bring them inside! It's, umm, "opened up" nicely. Car smelled great, only lost and ounce as it was upright. Seriously, it's amazing what some time open does. I've yet to have a bottle get worse with a little time open. I am sorely tempted to open a bottle, decant it, than pour back into the bottle after 48 or so hours as a regular habit.

How do you get an open bottle to last 48 or so hours?

Holiday week, just clocked out and poured some JEP BiB bourbon ( apparently there is also a rye). This is KY 5 distillate not MGP and that was my motivation for picking it up last holiday season as a bit of an impulse buy. I REALLY enjoy this. JEP, be it mash bill or their legacy spring or... who knows, but whatever the secret sauce, I really dig their house distillate. This one has a beautiful cream soda note that really resonates with me. BIB so more one note than layers of complexity, but damn I enjoy that one note! Good way to kick off the week.

Back to the regularly-scheduled programming with KC12.  Just a small pour, as the bottle is getting low 😕... but I've got a backup ready 🥳 when needed.

WTRB again yesterday. I like it.

Starlight rye with honey finish, sampler from a friend. Not sure about it yet. So far I think the Nulu version was much better. I've shied away from finished...but that Nulu honey finished is good. Granted, the Nulu is a bourbon, so not an apples to apples comparison. Still, one would think that the sweetness of the honey would better offset rye than bourbon.

Oh wow, this Starlight opened up nicely. Really nice contrast with spice in the rye and finish on the honey. If this bottle is representative...they know how to finish.

Beam Black 7 year while listening to Braves pre-game on the radio.  Visual entertainment is watching a bunny doing some nibbling on stuff on the patio.  He’s been with us now for about a month.  Showed up about the time I was going to round up the weeds sprouting between the brinks.  Weeeeellll, that got overturned by the family with a “Don’t you DARE!!!” admonishment…🤣.   For the record, I would never do that.  😌

had a small pour of a RR SiB pick last night. It's getting low, so it will make the bottle kill list soon.

I changed directions a little last night. I shared some of a ps OFSiB BP with @JerseyDon. It drinks pretty hot at 128.2 proof. I proofed  it down with water and a small chunk of ice, and voilà. Thick and chewy with that slight hint of a musty, woody rickhouse. Pretty darned good. 😋 I also have a couple of ps OFSiB 90 proofers. If only they tasted as great as the BP. 🙂

Just finished seasoning my 4th of July  🎆🇺🇸🎆 ribs and placed them in the freezer to percolate. Will switch to fridge before bedtime, but in the meantime, whipped out a freezer pour of EW SiB. Nice starter, but needed more pizzazz, so second pour, one of my Old Soul Blends. Yumm!!!

So glad to see these showing up and at good age.  EWSB is one of those bourbons from my early days that hooked me into Bourbonia.  This is delicious out front with Braves on the radio.

A solid bourbon with a solid lineage.  It went through a few rough years but seems to be rebounding well.  That said, with the age starting to increase again, I would love to see the proof up into the mid-90 range or higher.  But, of course, I would like to the price to remain the same as in 2013.  😮

It disappeared for a long time in my area but I am starting to see it on the shelves again.

Having a little JDSB tonight, I thought this was just a cool picture. I have a store pick open from 2019 to 2024 and the others or special releases. It’s on the edge of my desk.

We sampled a mixed bag at our group get together last night. We tasted Chattanooga Whiskey High Malt, Old Tub BIB, and a ps OFSiB 90 proof. On the deck with bourbon, beer and cigars with fireworks going off all over the place. 🇺🇸 🎇🇺🇸🎇

I've heard so many good things about Kentucky Tea, I decided I'd wait until I found one for my first Bookers.  Definitely not at all disappointed!  I put myself on a bourbon timeout like I always do, but there's always a reason to break it.

Looking good Fellas!  To paraphrase Applebee's "Drinking Good in the Neighborhood!" 😎

Nice reason to share a high quality pour!
