MyBrainOnWhiskey
A small pour from a 1792 Full Proof (local) store pick. I like it with 5ml of water. Just enough to open it up and soften the ethanol kick. Tart cherries, caramel, sweet oak, sweet cinnamon, a bit of varnish.

StarSurfer55
Still sorting out some minor heart issues so my bourbon drinking is limited to one on Friday evening. I am a bit peeved as I did run out of Weller SR and wanted to buy a replacement. Since if is a rare bottle in Michigan, I usually order from out of state and have it shipped in. However, it appears that our AG has cracked down on wine and liquor shipments into the state so no on can ship me a bottle.

We can't have booze shipped to us here in IN either.
Jazzhead
I'm doing the mad scientist thing today, attempting to extend my best-ever solera bottle which was down to the last inch. The solera had been MGP dominant, to which I've added some WTKS, JJ Bowman and especially, 1796 Full Proof. 1796 Full Proof is the blender's friend; it adds the dark mahogany punch that transforms good to great.

Folks called it Werthers Candy bourbon & that pretty much nailed it. Got 2018 for $84, but it fell short & never ended with the ethanol. Candy there but not as prevalent. The next year LS Owner did some allocated studying and went up to $150. I haven't looked for it since and truly don't think it came around here again... I have nothing to report yet other than "I like it". I fell in love with the '23 version. Had it twice at Michter's bar while hovering for a drop. I thought it had amazing flavor (though memory of a description defies me) and was really impressed by the high flavor/low proof. I need to try '23 and '24 side by side. I also want to side by side it against Bombergers to see how similar they are/are not and if the price differential is worth it. Admittedly, I'm not super price sensitive. I managed to get a bit over a dozen of them for $173 (taxes included). Over half went to friends who have been generous to me at cost. I figure if I decide they are not worth it I can trade in Ohio for 4 OWA (so $43 per OWA, well below MSRP & sales taxes on the same). Win or win. I'm really liking the Michters toasted rye...and I'm not usually a toasted fan. More sampling is required.
Anwalt
Took some W12 to a conference to drink with friends. Always a popular choice. That was Sunday's drink.
Anwalt
Today: Shenks 2023. This is one that I like much more after it's been in the Glencairn for 35 or so minutes. I think those who say it has malted rye in it are correct; Michters did a nice job with it. I wonder at the age of it. The oak is very pleasant, a bit different (still French oak or Chinquapin?). Sweet, nice offset by the slightly odd oak, well balanced (if you like sweet!). Been having fun with the Michters lately given that it's dropping in PR pretty heavily. Shenks and Bombergers 2024 are evidently en route with a possibility of both rye BP (which I really like, thanks to Obree) and bourbon BP (which I have not yet tried).

Now I find it to be quite balanced. Great stuff, especially for the price.

aquavite
Currently, I'm enjoying my new bottle of BT, as well as my bottle of Woodford Reserve "Double Oaked." But I'm still going to search for an ECBP. I guess I'll have to settle for B524 now (I don't think there area any more C923;s left. Maybe I should wait for C924. We'll see. I'll also replenish my Bulleit Bourbon as well.

Anwalt
Well, after the 1792 Sweet Wheat "fail" (see Newly Opened Bottles sub-forum), cleansing with ECBP B522. A merely "quite good" ECBP. I put the new would-be mistress aside, went back to the wife. All is better now.
IamMatt
Wanted an easy, lower-proof sipper so I started with some of the new Jim Beam 7-year but I was getting an almost soapy note so I switched to Jack Daniels Single Barrel. Such a good bottle.

I simply don't like the B524, it has a burnt rubber taste to me, almost like a bad mezcal, and I say this as an unabashed EC fanboy. B 524 simply doesn't fit my profile. But opinions differ and that's what sells bad farm land.
