Underhilltab
Does anyone know any information about either of the two bourbons pictured? I’m particularly interested in the Special Reserve. There’s a little information on this board from years ago, but not enough to clear things up for me. I’m trying to find out exactly who was behind the release of the bottles and the source of the whiskey in the bottles. There were apparently two versions of Stone Castle in the early 2000s — one was a SiB release and the Special Reserve was a small batch release. One or both were sold in Japan. I’ve read/heard that one or both were released by either Cecil or Michael Withrow who owned Old Taylor Distillery at the time. I’ve also read/heard different stories about one or both being either WT distillate or GTS distillate. The information online (for example, by auction houses) is not definitive and, in fact, in some cases seems to attribute stories I’ve heard about one bottle to the other bottle. Any helpful/accurate information would be appreciated. Edited July 27 by Underhilltab
FasterHorses
I may be mistaken but didnt it have ties to Michters? Saw one on bottlespot before that site disappeared. It was a japanese release. One of those that i wish i had pulled the trigger on.
LCWoody
I'm just guessing, but its Michters, or KBD. Eather way, I'm sure it's good juice.
JT3NSB
53 is registered as E.H. Taylor & Sons Distillery, DSP 53 Is that something Sazerac did for export only or something? Edited July 28 by JT3NSB
