IamMatt
Looks like I will be in Louisville, Bardstown, Frankfort, and Lexington in late August. I will be visiting a few distilleries of course, looking for any special bottles, but are there any special Kentucky-only or distillery-only bottles I should particularly look for this trip? Thanks. 0895
If you take a tour at Evan Williams, they sometimes have the red label 12y/101p available afterwards. It’s not cheap, but it’s a really good pour. The only other place you can buy it is in Japan. If you’re more budget conscious , they have a white label gift shop only blend that’s also very good. As for KY bottles, some of my favorites to look for that I cannot get back home are: -TW Samuals BiB -Ancient Age 90 -Very Old Barton (available in 4 different proofs) -Early Times BiB -Old Bardstown BiB (white label) (Willett house distilled) -HH green label 90p 6yr (supposedly discontinued, but occasionally I find it)
PaulO
The EW tour may have those 375ml EW 125 proof "grenades" or some expensive offerings like William Heavenhill or Parker's Heritage. Four Roses used to have single barrel picks from the master distiller in gift shop. For me, I think it's great just strolling into some of the big stores like LB, not knowing what I might find. Happy Hunting, and let us know how it goes.
kcgumbohead
When in Bardstown check the Kroger and see if they have any Copper&Kings bourbon left. I have posted several time here about it (they should send me one at this point LOL!!) its KY only and I loved it. I am hoping some is still there next year as I bought a back-up but I like it so much that I wont hesitate to add more. Kroger had it for 40ish bucks and IMO its a steal!!
IamMatt
Thanks for everyone posting. 0895: I didn't schedule a tour of Evan Williams this time but we will be on Whiskey Row so I will check for the 12-yr as well as the other distilleries there for goodies. Fortunately, I can get Barton VOB, ET BIB, and Bardstown here. PaulO: We did the HH tour last year and have the ECBP and Larceny BP that we bottled ourselves. I passed on the grenades but may have to pick one up this time. Not sure if we will get to 4R this time but I will check the gift shop if we do. Haven't been to LB but last year I went to a big Evergreen store (north of St Matthews IIRC) that was very impressive. kcgumbohead: Is that C&K a Kroger store pick I should be looking for? No, not a store pick but a KY only release. HH, Barton and Bardstown of varying ages ( google will provide specifics) aged in C&K brandy barrels. If you are into Michters, I hear getting there 30min or so before they open might present you with some interesting choices that might otherwise be rarely seen. Justins House of Bourbon had several picks the one time I strolled over there and tastes are available to see if they suit your palate so that could be a source for a store pick or two within walking distance of whiskey row. Happy hunting and have fun
Skinsfan1311
While not "Kentucky Only" Kroger seems to have good prices on New Riff.

We ended up going to Bardstown last week. Picked up a C&K at Kroger and there were plenty left. I'll try to remember to post when I crack it.
