PaulO
Oh, I almost forgot to mention, the other day I saw Willett Pot Still multiple bottles on the shelf 750ml and 1.75L (the big bong bottle ). The family sise was over $100, I think $110 or so. I don't really care. It's just the novelty of seeing unusual stuff. I must have beat the taters to the store that day. They can have it all. Meanwhile keep their paws off my JW Dant and OF Rye.
Kepler
Passed on CEHT Small Batch on the shelf at Total Wine yesterday for $65. Just while I was in the bourbon aisle, there were 2 or 3 guys that picked it up at that elevated price. I can't imagine paying $65 for non-age stated BT bourbon when regular NAS BT (with the same mash bill) is sitting right next to it for $25 with no limit. That yellow cardboard tube must really cast a spell over those taters

It recently went up to $53.00. FWIW, the tubes are empty. I’m saving them for a friend.

Just out in the open, sitting on the shelf. Crazy.

If you were at the Total Wine in The Woodlands around 7 pm, then it’s entirely possible that we both were standing there at the same time noting the very same thing. I was in the aisle maybe 15 minutes and there were six bottles when I got there and I grabbed the last one to donate for a gala fund raiser event. I went back for the Old Forester Single Barrel Rye, but someone grabbed the last one.

I have a bunch of them in my stash too but I'd never pay $65 for them. I think the most I've paid was $45ish and even that it doesn't make sense in comparison to regular BT. I find that it tastes better than BT but not by THAT much. I still have a certain love for CEHT SmB, but that love was built back when it was $33-35 while regular BT was $20-25. The value is no longer there.
Skinsfan1311
I was only re-stocking staples. I passed on a lot...but these are the one's that I can remember the prices Bulleit BiB for $69.00 Stagg $299.00 WSR $149.00 KC12 $69.99 Blanton's $94.00 Thomas Handy Rye $599.00 1792 BiB $69.99 Booker's $99.99 MM101 $69.99 (not a typo), but the CS sitting next to it on the shelf is $49.99 Some of those aren't too obscene, but I was only interested in picking up Bulleit BiB & KC12 and they are easy enough to find so there's no reason to overpay. The one LS had 12 bottles of Stagg, and about the same of various Weller's. Edited Sunday at 09:37 PM by Skinsfan1311
rzelinka
Of the ones you listed above, I think the 12 year Knob Creek is worth every penny at $70
Skinsfan1311
Passed on a lot at a Va ABC store... The prices were all good but I exercised restraint...they had a good selection. Booker's $99.99 Heaven Hill Grain to Glass $99.99 are the only prices that I recall but they a lot of different of Woodford Master Series

rzelinka
I passed on Angel's Envy Cask Strength. I thought long and hard about it, but I don't think it was worth the $225 asking price. I find their bourbon to just be okay.

I agree along with @rzelinka that the KC12 is perhaps the best and most tempting one out of all those bottles, but sure if you can easily get it for less, there's no reason to overpay. Agreed... but I opted for the KC18 that day instead, because the 12 year is ubiquitous, and the 18 not so much.

My bottle of Knob Creek 18 arrives this week. Of course a 21 year variety is forthcoming so depending on price, I'll look to add that to my collection as I enjoy Knob Creek and find it to be fairly priced.
