Blending two 5 year old whiskies doesn't yield an 11 or 12 year old whiskey. Oh, if it were just that simple. Wait, you mean 5+5 doesn’t equal 10?

Oh, if it were just that simple. I will not blame my acquaintance for my faux pas. You are correct that it is impossible to blend "X" Bbtl with inferior products or barrels that are not intended for such goal. So, what I should have said was that this might create a Poor Man's Birthday Btl. I will not know if my end result tastes anything like the real deal as I have only had 3 pours of OFBB from 3 different yrs. So for me, it is something fun to do until I land my own OFBB, if that ever happens. And, this project cost ~ 30% of what the real thing costs. And it might turn out to be pretty darn good. Let you know what I think of it in a few months. Side note, I have tried doing the Poor Man's Pappy as well. I tried the MM Cask and Larceny blend and I tried the W12 and OWA blend. I was not very precise with measuring(close but not scientific)and did not let them mingle for any amount of time. I blended into 375 btl and drank them within a wk or so time. They did not remind me of PVW, at least not the 20 or 23 yr olds. Were they similar, not from my recollection (Never owned any VW btl, just a few pours) . Did it even hint towards the real deal? NOPE! Lol. Was it fun? Yep!

Particularly look at older posts regarding SB blend and weller centennial. Cheers.
