derrboy
What is the activity you do most while drinking. I assume most people are at a bar when they drink, but while at home what do you usually find yourself doing? If I'm all alone enjoying a few good pours I end up sitting online and watching the simpsons on DVD (big fan) or maybe a movie that I've already seen so I don't really have to pay attention..................... RedVette
On-line poker tournaments. Got a nice thick pour of Buffalo Trace, and lady luck. So far tonight the BT has been better than the luck.
ratcheer
Hmmm, I almost never drink at bars except when I'm out of town.I usually read, and its usually a novel. I prefer it in my big, overstuffed leather chair in our living room / library. Sometimes I'm reading in bed, occasionally sitting up to take a sip.Tim
brian12069
Depends...If I'm home and enjoying a "few" adult beverages...I'm either singing to myself (or my poor wife) Playing on my computer, playing pinball, watching sports or entertaining a couple friends...I'm a man of many talents! sharkman
I like a good book, murder mystery mostly. Like James Patterson or Michael Connelly. Also, being online reading these forums, makes me very thirsty. So I usually have a pour or three... I don't usually drink in bars. It's the whole drinking and driving thing that scares me. You could loose a lot just for enjoying a whiskey. Plus, with over 270 bottles in my bar, Ohio can't give me a better selection. Plus, I get a great deal on the bar tab at the end of the night!! I do love to sit with my wife and taste a few bourbons. We love to talk about the whiskies. She's a big rye fan... Gotta love that in a woman! ej178
What I like to do most and what I usually do are two different things. I like to drink with good company the most, especially with a good cigar. Over a good game of poker is even better. What I usually do is enjoy a drink after work while perusing the mail or checking email.

gr8erdane
That's easy. I usually formulate my nightly strategy to TAKE OVER THE WORLD. (It's Pinky, Pinky and the Dane, Dane, Dane, Dane.......)
musher
I assume most people are at a bar when they drink, but while at home what do you usually find yourself doing? That's an odd assumption to make, if you consider how much time and effort we spend hunting down and buying great bourbons. I know I buy them to enjoy consuming them. With so much great bourbon at home (25+ and counting), and damned near nothing worthwhile in 1/2 the bars I visit (the other half at least have Wild Turkey), I can't justify paying bar prices for mediocrity. Besides, I'm usually only in a bar while Bonnie and I are waiting for a table at whatever restaurant we're visiting. That being said, I, like Tim, am usually reading. Either online, or a book or magazine. That or just contemplating how great life is with such magnificent bourbon to drink!
robbyvirus
I'm a musician, and I play in a lot of bars, but I only have a beer or two when I'm out, as I need to keep focused on the music (and the drive home). So my bourbon drinking is done mostly at home, usually while surfing the web or watching TV. I especially enjoy a bourbon with friends, or while watching HBO with my wife on Sunday nights (anyone else watch "Carnivale" or "Deadwood"?...Great shows!!). sharkman
Nope, not the radio. I did have a TV show in Northeast Ohio about 7 years ago, but that's history...

camduncan
I typically only drink when we are socialising with friends on the weekend Occasionally I might have 1 or 2 mid-week if it is a stressful week - usually whilst cooking dinner or watching tv. TriumphSM
I have a decent home theater system that also puts out some nice 2 channel sound and it can play DVD-Audio and SACD disks. I'll throw on a CD of whatever I'm in the mood for. Sometimes it's Mozart, other times it can be Metallica, and I have a lot of CDs that fit in between. A recent favorite I've acquired is Miles Davis & John Coltrane: The complete Columbia recordings.
Tallica
I usually like to relax with some good music & a good pour, or have a quite drink while surfing the net.
monte
I'm a musician, and I play in a lot of bars, but I only have a beer or two when I'm out, as I need to keep focused on the music (and the drive home). So my bourbon drinking is done mostly at home, I gotta agree - the bars around here have such generally boring bourbon anyway (Makers with a pourer on the bottle is generally the best available) and I have to remain sober enough to drive home safely, so I stick with beer when out. I'm a soundman, so I end up in bars in about the same way that you do!I especially enjoy a bourbon with friends, or while watching HBO with my wife on Sunday nights (anyone else watch "Carnivale" or "Deadwood"?...Great shows!!). My wife and I are also HBO sunday night junkies - a great time for a nice pour from the stash! I stick with Bourbon, my wife enjoys fine port (tawny or LBV). This weekend, it's been some Eagle Rare 17 2002 for me - what a fine pour! I don't mean to sound like a whiner, but I was slightly disappointed with the 2004 release of ER17, especially now that I opened a 2002 and remembered why I love ER17 so much. Let's hope that there are some nice casks waiting for the 2005 ER17!!Regards,-monte-
robbyvirus
Leslie and I are struggling to keep up with this season of Deadwood. Seems like every episode something new comes out of left field. And poor Al I agree, the writers have really been giving it to poor Al this season. And I agree that the subplots on Deadwood are hard to follow. Fortunately the characters are so great that I often just don't care that I'm a bit clueless. And here's a tip: go to www.televisionwithoutpity.com and pull down the "Pick a show here" menu to Deadwood. There you'll find recaps of previous weeks' episodes that not only are funny and well written, but explain what's going on with all the subplots. Edward_call_me_Ed
Hello All, Like a lot of people here I enjoy reading a book while sipping a fine bourbon. Lately the book is likely to be about whiskey. Or watching a DVD, though I don't do that very often. I am kind of sick of everything that is on cable here in Japan at the moment so I rarely watch TV while drinking. I spend a lot of time here and over on the Whisky Magazine Forum, reading about, thinking about and writing about whiskey. I really enjoy playing with my son. He will be two in July. Playing with his Thomas the Tank Engine set, reading him stories, playing with blocks, talking about Bob the Builder, but I do all those things when I am not drinking bourbon. I guess my point is this, what I most enjoy doing when drinking bourbon is drink bourbon. Swirl it in the glass, hold it up to the light, nose it, take a sip, let it spread across my tongue, breath in and out while letting a little bit of air swirl at the back of my throat then swallow, savoring the finish as it goes on and on (depending on the bourbon). Breath in and out. Sometimes I try to tease out the various tastes that are in the bourbon but usually I just enjoy it.Ed
Edward_call_me_Ed
Hello, robbyvirus Beer is the dangerous drink for me. A pour of whiskey (40 or 50 ml) might take me more than an hour to finish. A beer rarely lasts more than five, ten minutes tops. Then it is time for another one.Ed
